Should Jokers past be teased at?

I have often felt that Joker's past should be kept a secret but I also feel it should be made into the kind secret that could destroy anyone who discovers it. For example say you have someone who seems strong willed and capable of handling anything then when they discover Joker's origins by opening a file or what have you they breakdown and do one of the following

1.Become completely and utterly afraid of Joker while at the same feeling completely sorry for him

2.Commit suicide,

3.Go completely insane and adopt Joker's ideology.

Essentially making said file or whatever a pandora's box or ark of the covenant type deal with contents that could break anyone's beliefs and easily convert even the most sane person to Joker's way of thinking.

So Joker is Cthulhu?

Jokers origin was told on the new 52.

Wait are you talking about the Red Hood gang? That is hardly what I meant you can't say that Red Hood Gang is his origin that was only a part of his life not the entirety. What about before he was red hood?

Personally I've always preferred the Killing Joke as his origin.
