This may not be his actual future since Sinestro could be lying when he told it and future writers may retcon or ignore it. Honestly, Geoff Johns just comes across as an *** by trying to pigeonhole future writers. He spends 9 years telling us Hal is the best, but he never shows it because any other GL would do the same thing as Hal (probably more effectively) if they were in the same situations. He spits on GL history by eliminating important moments like Mosaic and the creation of the Darkstars. And now he ****s on future writers by giving readers an ending and a jumping off point. What an ego. If he's not on GL, then he wants it go down the drain. And even though he's not on the book, he wants to get a certain outcome in which Hal is still the best. SMH.

John would never become a politician. He's a social activist who would never become some shady bureaucrat. He's too much of a populist to lie to people's faces and compromise his ideals. He can't write John, so he just turns him into Obama? WTF? He even goes so far as to set Stewart's district as Chicago when John is a resident of Detroit. SMH.

John's birth was foretold and recorded in the Tower of Talo before he ever became a GL. I'm willing to bet that he would exceed Hal "I can only be completely bland or completely dick-ish" Jordan. John has more discipline, compassion, social awareness, intelligence, and imagination than Hal will ever have.

And I can't believe Johns got Cully Hammer, artist of the legendary Green Lantern Mosaic, to draw these garbage pages. And the art doesn't even match the story. The art says he's a representative in the house rather than a senator. FAIL.

And Johns doesn't even get Stewart's nickname right. John is the MASTER builder not the bridge builder. He just happens to be good at leading people as evidenced by Mosaic.

So he finally marries Fatality?

#31 Edited by Captain13 (3331 posts) - - Show Bio

@jointron33: no. but you should read the book. it is really good and you only need to read 2 issues to catch up

#32 Posted by Lvenger (19965 posts) - - Show Bio

At least John's finally been written well. Van Jensen and Venditti are doing a good job. If only Venditti can write Hal as well as John is written here. Great feats as per usual @matchesmalone21, thanks for finding them!

#33 Posted by matchesmalone21 (8763 posts) - - Show Bio

@lvenger: Thanks a lot man!! Do you see Jessica Cruz will be introduced during Forever Evil?? That female Green Lantern,Geoff Johns in the last issue of his run....

#34 Posted by Lvenger (19965 posts) - - Show Bio

@matchesmalone21: Yeah I did. A tad soon but I guess it's part of the picture.

#35 Posted by matchesmalone21 (8763 posts) - - Show Bio

@lvenger: It's really soon but this fits, because in GL 20 is implied she'll be introduced after Hal Jordan's death, and in Forever Evil the world greatest heroes are considered dead already.

#36 Posted by Lvenger (19965 posts) - - Show Bio

@matchesmalone21: But Hal's out in space. So he isn't going to die any time soon. At least not as a result of Trinity War or Forever Evil.

#37 Posted by matchesmalone21 (8763 posts) - - Show Bio

@lvenger: What I mean is heroes are presumably dead and for a long time he didn't return to Earth, then automatically everyone will think he is one of the casualties of war, but in fact he will be dealing with Relic during Lights Out. As the Earth is without a Green Lantern defends it, jessica will be chosen

John displays his leadership skills, willpower, strategic mind, and engineering background by leading the new Green Lantern recruits, helping to rebuild the power battery, and literally rebuilding the foundation of the Green Lantern Corps.
John Saves Guy Gardner, his best friend, and cracks jokes in the middle of battle. He also puts his emotions on hold when he has a mission at hand.
Another display of John's command presence.
John shows off his strategic thinking here by making sure he had an exit plan for the Corps. He found them a new home, helped them build a new battery, and got them a ticket for a trip away from the edge of the universe by using his diplomatic skills with the Indigo Tribe.
John shows compassion for his friend Guy, who he believes is caught behind enemy lines.

Light's Out really displayed why John is known as the Master Builder, Emerald Engineer, and the Opener of Doors among his fellow Emerald Lightsmiths.
