David Tennant Joins the Cast of Jessica Jones Series for Netflix

Huge news for fans of David Tennant, the Gracepoint and Doctor Who star is making his was to Netflix on the upcoming 13-episode series debuting in 2015, Jessica Jones, which follows up Daredevil.

Tennant has been cast as the villainous Killgrave on the show, starring opposite Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Michael Colter (Luke Cage) which is being developed by executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg. (Read more about Killgrave, aka The Purple Man, HERE).

“I'm so honored and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character,” said Rosenberg. “He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He'll make Kilgrave a truly original villain."

In addition, Marvel's Head of Television, Jeph Loeb said that he's the man they need for the job and he brings a huge amount of dedication to his role.

The synopsis of the show is as follows:

After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.

Jessica Jones will be debuting on Netflix in 2015.

Apparently the character's name will be spelled KILGRAVE in the show instead of KILLGRAVE.

I wonder if he'll pop up in Agents of SHIELD, as terrible as the first seaosn was they did hint at May having a run in with a Purple Man.

Tennant will be amazing. I've always found the Purple Man a particularly repulsive villain. I'm looking forward to seeing Tennant make him someone I'll love to hate. :)

There's something I always find really funny about how a dude named 'Zebediah Killgrave' calls himself 'The Purple Man'. It's one of the only times I can think of where a characters ACTUAL name is more threatening than their chosen alias.

I knew it the moment I heard he was cast that he would be Purple Man. I don't know why.

That is a good choice for Killgrave.

3. The fact that the press release calls him Kilgrave makes me worried they won't make him purple.

It's always been a dream of mine to see David Tennant, Nathan Fillion, and Benedict Cumberbatch in live-action superhero roles.

Now I can ALMOST die happy. Nathan Fillion's voice-acting for Hal Jordan just doesn't quite count.

Excellent choice. I was originally not planning to watch this show but how can you say no to "The Doctor".
