Ok so you know that I like comic book characters/teams that aren't straight-up super heroes and one of my favourite characters is Iron Fist. Iron Fist is at his best when he's (in green and yellow) involved with the crazy mystical kung fu business you get when dealing with the Capital Cites of Heaven (see Immortal Iron Fist for details) but since Marvel don't seem to be giving him another shot at a solo book any time soon so how about a team book? I know Marvel is on some type of crusade to kill off all there B and C list characters and they'v almost wiped out the Immortal Weapons but there is some members still alive and some new recruits that could slot right in, so here's my take:
Writer: Peter Milligan
I know he's currently working at DC but Hellblazer is coming to an end soon and I cant see Red Lanterns lasting that long after the end of the Third Army but have you read the 5 Ronin he did for Marvel? It's pretty great and it captures the oriental mysticism that would be great for an Iron Fist/Immortal Weapons book (failing that JH Fialkov is doing some work for Marvel soon and it would be pretty cool to see him take a shot at it)
Art: David Aja/Alex Maleev
Ideally I would have David Aja back on the book again but as he's on Hawkeye it's unlikely he'd have time for both so I'd go for Alex Maleev. I know he's hit or miss with a lot of pepole but I think he's great and his art would provide the right kind of tone that the book would need.
Plot:
We all know how much of a fruit loop the Prince of Orphans is, he tried to kill Danny Rand's predecessor Orson Randal and he recently wiped out half of Immortal Weapons but what does this mean for the Capital Cites? This could amp the tension between them with some of them seeing this as an act of aggression and the Immortal Weapons have to try and stop a literal "war in heaven"
Members:
Danny Rand AKA Iron Fist
Fat Cobra
DavosAKASteel Pheonix
Davos became the champion of the Heavenly City Ku'n-Zi during the last tournament, even though he has repented his past misdeeds and even became a hero there is still tension between him and Danny Rand that would give an interesting team dynamic.
Shang Chi AKA Master of Spiders?
After the death of the Bride of Nine Spiders her Heavenly Capital City will be without a champion Shang Chi decides that the only way for him to become the true master of Kung Fu is to make a pilgrimage to the Capital City and become a Immortal Weapon. He created then went on to perfect the Way of the Spider so he would gain the mystical version of his Spider-Island powers upon replacing the Bride.
Sun Wukong AKA Monkey King
Wukong is technically the Immortal Weapon of the forbidden Eighth Capital City of Heaven, he is the the cunning trickster or the group
What do you think? Would you read this book?
