Update: CW Not Developing Hawkgirl TV Series

UPDATE: The CW shot down the Hawkgirl rumor saying it was not true.

ORIGINAL STORY: Could CW already be moving forward with a Hawkgirl television series? If the rumors are true, then Ciara Renée, who will be playing Hawkgirl on CW's Legends of Tomorrow, could be starring in her own series. Reported by SpoilerTV, the project is in very early stages of development and if it moves forward, it would skip the pilot stage and get a series order.

There has been no confirmation from CW as to whether this is true.

Ciara Renée will make her debut as Hawkgirl in 2016 in the Arrow/Flash spin-off Legends of the Tomorrow, which will feature a slew of heroes and villains from both of the television series. We'll keep you updated as more develops.

Man it really feels like DC is just throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks with their TV stuff. I hope all of these shows don't end up fatiguing the audience to the point it hurts other shows.

This is really rushed. Hawkgirl received almost no screen time in the Legends of Tomorrow trailers and now she's supposed to get her own show?

Plus, I know that success in the comics isn't a prerequisite for success in outside media, but the one time they attempted to give Kendra a book, it failed.

Legends sounds awful. As a fan, I'm not excited about it at all. They should have setup Legends like Marvel setup Agent Carter (as a mini series) initially.

Hawkgirl is a great property but a really random choice for a solo show with a lot of potential continuity problems inherent in translating the character into mainstream tv or movies. Her origin is messed up even in comics. They should sort that out before trying to translate her for mainstream audiences.

So they're preparing to spin-off a character from a show that hasn't even premiered yet (and won't for another year)?

I'd understand if it was a "name" character that they knew had a build-in audience but... Hawkgirl? Really?

How do you know they WON'T set it up in Flash and Arrow? I'm positive that they will address why Heatwave and Cold are on the team in Flash and might show Sara's resurrection in Arrow.

Interesting. Hard to have an opinion when we haven't actually seen Hawkgirl in action yet. I hope that too many DCWverse shows don't overwhelm the audience. Normally, I'd say the more the merrier, but four different shows set in the same universe all going on at once might be pushing things. Perhaps if Hawkgirl were a summer show for next year, it'd be easier to swallow.

If they were smart, they would just produce stand alone eps for each character in Legends of Tomorrow a la Justice League Unlimited. I just can't see Hawkgirl carrying a show on her own(And I love Hawkgirl, i really do). I respect the the cw for trying to branch out more super hero shows, but this could wind up being a flop.

I know a lot of people r sketchy about so many DC heroes coming to CW. I'm not too pleased that CW lost out on superglue and gotham but hawk girl might be a nice turn of events since wonder woman was lost.

Hawk girl can basically face off against hawk man foes and hawk man could be a supporting character every now and again. Hawk girl and hawk man hav had several past lives so each season can deal with old ghosts or unfinished business from different points in time.

I think they should wait to see how people like her in Legends Of Tomorrow, but I think it sounds cool and I will probably watch it, but not as religiously as The Flash or Arrow Season 2

@mfundroid: It is still coming but prepare for a lot of guest stars from Arrow and Flash so it might not really be about her too much. Reportedly Felicity and Oliver will have many moments in it.

Which is a shame as I really wanted this to be a Vixen centered show with her meeting Arrow and Flash at the end for a team-up or something.

@the_stegman: I will entertain that idea and I would somewhat agree if not the a lack lustre end of the first season and the way they foreshadowed was way too obvious and the plot has been done to death. I'm my opinion best CB series atm is AoS season 2, that two part finale was better than AoU

I like Kendra so I wouldn't mind, but haven't seen the actress though.

Keep in mind that Legends doesnt start until halfway through the Arrow/Flash season. There is plenty of time to promote Legends.

The same could be said for Marvel and their movies. I just watch the ones I want to see and skip the rest. How difficult is that to do?

There are so many comic book TV shows out that I don't have time to watch all the comic book TV shows. I can't decide if this is wonderful or horrible.

@mfundroid: Ikr, a live action version of vixen should be in the works, not a cartoon. They could at least put her on legends of tomorrow.

@wtk1013 With Vixen they said they wanted to see peoples interest in the character first with an animated show that crosses over with the live action shows and if it does well they will turn it into live action, so if people want a live action Vixen series just watch the animated show when it comes out to show your support.

And Legends Of Tomorrow doesn't come out until next year...Guess CW isn't wasting any time as it seems. Although, a Hawkgirl show would be pretty good.

The amount of superheroes that we've seen and about to see, still blows my mind. Never thought I'd live to see Hawkgirl, Ant-Man & Captain Boomerang outside of comics.

Seems like DC has their TV universe already planned in advance but obviously they're going to see how everything goes with Legends of Tomorrow before giving her a solo series, not sure what's with all the negativity about this but i for one am excited to see the TV universe expand and to see more DC characters getting a push, especially Hawkgirl.

Here's the thing, It's been talked about over the past 3 years that CW has tried to develop a couple of Supernatural Spin off's and none of them have gotten off of the ground. Including that horrible embedded pilot spin off episode that took place in Chicago (whatever that was called).

Now, hear me out, but with all of these CW arrow verse TV shows would it be that weird if Supernatural crossed over into arrow for a 2 hour cross over? I think it would be a lot of fun, and it's not that big of a stretch to imagine the Winchesters interacting with Ollie and Barry.
