New screen shot of Karen Gillan as Nebula....
Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer
You can always tell the DC fans, can't you? "WHERE'S MAH GRITTY REALISM?!"
Screw the "gritty realism." If I have a choice between brooding billionaire who misses his parents and a freaking raccoon with an automatic weapon, I'm going with the raccoon. Keep giving us the fun, Marvel; let DC/WB have the monopoly on pathos, melancholy and self-seriousness.
I'm sorry if this falls into the 'hater' group as it's not meant to but...I'm not wholly impressed with this trailer. Yeah it looks like it'll be a laugh and it's certainly an ambitious project to be sure and the trailer did justify that. But I'm not totally into the film like I have been with The Winter Soldier trailers. Maybe it's because I'm not used to GOTG type humour or that I'm not a GOTG fan but the trailer didn't do it for me really. I wasn't drawn into the characters nor the story nor hyped for the final product. Still, trailers are meaningless at the end of the day so I'll wait for more footage before truly judging this film.
I completely agree with this.
I'm not a huge GoTG fan, I just don't particularly care for the team, nor this movie. And this trailer really does nothing to make me want to care about the team or the movie. As for the comedy, I think Marvel had WAAAAAAAY too much comedy in Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, to the point that it almost ruined the films, however, in this, a movie with a talking raccoon and a space tree, I expect it to be humorous...just not SO much in the trailer, it doesn't have any kind of an "epic" feel that makes me want to watch the movie, it just looks like a typical heist/comedy...in space.
I'll wait for more trailers to come out, maybe it'll impress me, but right now, I'm whelmed.

Uhh I think you need to take another look through the comments and you'll see the ones that are mainly complaining.
Looks awesome, though I think the non-comic reading viewers of the films (a good majority of Marvel's audience) aren't going to know what the hell this is.
I completely agree with this.

Again I totally agree with your post. I am interested in this movie but the overbearing 'cheesiness' of this trailer has weakened the quality of the trailer. I didn't get an epic feel like I did with The Winter Soldier trailers and it does seem like a heist/comedy film with some sci fi added in instead.
Also, are you receiving notifications? Because I didn't get this message from you.
@the_stegman: a typical heist/comedy...in space.
Yeah, because THERE'S a genre that's been beaten to death. I mean, didn't we have like 4 different space heist comedies last year alone?
Why are people complaining about the comedy? They nailed it. I'm no GotG expert, but they have always been a very interesting group. Star-Lord is supposed to be a funny bad@ss, and so is Rocket. Drax looks as serious as ever, Gamora looks alright, and Groot looks like he's supposed too also. I think they did the trailer right by showing the personality of the team perfectly and showing that it will be epic nonetheless.
So excited for this! I love that they are going in the comedy route for this. Groot and Rocket Raccoon are going to own this film.
Didn't like, I'm interested but the trailer was a big meh. I hate the fact that it's the exact same footage from SDCC, that is so lame, we wait half a year for recycled footage.
I must admit I was caught off guard by the trailer. But that's what made it awesome! GotG was one of the last things we expected to be made into a live action movie - it even beat Justice League! - and so I think they are making fun of that with an unexpected trailer. I don't think anybody saw this coming and this will get people talking. Whether or not the movie will be full comedy, full action, or a mixture of the two is unknown. And that will draw people there to find out.
I would't be surprised if New Warriors get a movie before Justice League... j/k
It actually looks good. I have a feeling the next trailer we get will inevitably be the make or break on Rocket Raccoon and will probably be the trailer that sells people on the movie.
@thetitan0: The rest was not "deathly serious"....It was cheesy and the dialogues were cringeworthy....
In terms of comedy vs no comedy, I think it's important to remember that this was debuted on the Tonight show. It's an audience that would be expecting comedy, and to be introduced to these characters that even lots of comic fans don't know.
On the other hand, the comedy wasn't especially well-done. That's more what bothered me here. Poor delivery. But it wasn't so bad. Just not great. Still looking forward to this.
I watched it a couple times and didn't see Ronan. What time does he appear?
I don't see why so many comic fans are so hard to please this looks amazing to me, it may not be perfect but , movies based on comics or even novels never are, and if they base it too closely to the source material it just ends up feeling like someones reading you the book. So all in all this looks great and i can't wait for it to come out.
@allstarsuperman: I completely agree with you that it has the potential to be the greatest Marvel movie. If they do this right, it will surpass Iron Man 1 and Avengers.
cool, looks so good, and the humor is actually funny imo, doesnt look like it will get stale.
@jonny_anonymous: dont know what DnA is...but save for the occasional deadpool i take my comics seriously plus everyone's sense of humor is different. comics are an art form, two different people looking at the same piece of art will have different opinions on it. you found the trailer and comic funny. i found the trailer atrocious and comic serious, fun and deep. what is funny about warlock going even? the universe almost being destroyed? phyla and moondragon dying. maybe they did have jokey jokes here and there but that's not why i read the guardians. i read it for space adventures and the characters who are really messed up when you look at their history (gamorra the daughter of thanos, moondragon who has died how many times??)
Comic book fans are the worst people to comic book movies.
QFT
I don't understand this. Are you implying that comic fans are bad movie reviewers?

I took it as Tony Shark saying comic book fans are insanely critical of everything about comic book films to a point where they consider everything to be a "bad move" i.e. casting, story, etc, even before the film comes out.

I can't disagree with you there actually.
I have literally watched this trailer at least 12 times. I am glad that I don't know a lot about the GotG and can just enjoy the build up to this movie without all of the over analyzing/criticism. I think this looks awesome! Lastly, are those Nova Corp troops checking the GotG into prison?

I meant a typical heist/comedy, only it's in space, not "space heist/comedy'' as a genre.
@lvenger: Yeah, I'm getting notices fine. Weird.
@mxyzptlk_cv: what parts were "cheesy"? there's that little thing at the beginning about capt dating then from there to the end it's serious.
I'm going to be honest, this movie looks really dumb. It might be fun, but it's dumb. Granted, I don't know how else they could do a movie with a space raccoon and a sentient tree alien without making it comedic or dumb. If I see this in theaters I figure I will drink a few beers first, get me in the mood for it.
@theacidskull: psst did you know that the guys with Korath when he arrests Star Lord are Sakaarans? so that's a Planet Hulk reference, right?
This movie is going to be AWESOME! haters will hate, but if you actually have read the GOTG comics you would know that there is a lot of humor in them. I am more excited for this than anything else!

WHAT!?ERMEHGERD!!!
Yea that's them, right?
@theacidskull: So Planet Hulk for the next phase?
It was alright, but I do look forward to Groot and Rocket.
Maybe its a SPOILER (so don't read or look at the rest of the post) or maybe I am just the last one to the table but Korath (spelling?) and Ronan the Accuser are both in the film, meaning that the Kree are in the GOTG and that could mean that soon a Captain Marvel film and Carol Danvers could be showing up very soon!
