Comic Book Question of the Week: Favorite Guardians of the Galaxy Character

The Marvel cosmic team has been around for quite some time (the name technically dates back to '69), but with a new movie on the way, the group is quickly gaining more and more fans. Brian Michael Bendis is the man behind the team's latest volume, and seeing as a trailer for the upcoming movie will drop sometime today (keep checking the homepage!), we wanted to be appropriately topical and discuss the team with all of you.

The question is simple: who's your favorite character on the current roster -- which is conveniently the roster that'll appear in the film! Cameos and rotating members aside (here's looking at you, Iron Man, Flash and Angela), who's your favorite character in the group? Star-Lord? Gamora? Drax? Groot? Rocket Raccoon? i find the lack of angela disturbing

I kinda liked Rocket before he got all, "BLAM! Murdered you!" I liked Groot before the glowy things got all over him. I like Star-Lord when DnA were writing him. I also liked Phyla-Vell then too.

Now? I'm going to have to go with Gamora. Her one-shot Infinite Comic was the best GotG comic of this run yet.

@mnightshelton: Don't know but the design is very neat.

Gamora and Drax are certainly my favourite characters here (from the work Starlin did with them in the Infinity Watch), but their appearances in Guardians haven't been anywhere near as interesting, so probably Groot.

Mantis, Cosmo, Bug, Phyla-Vell, Moondragon, Adam Warlock, Jack Flag and anyone else neglected by the movie and Bendis.

I'll admit I've never read a Guardians of the Galaxy comic in my life although I plan to do so soon. However, I spent most of the night last night reading Comic Vine's bios on the team members and Drax is the one that interests me the most. His absolute hatred of Thanos and desire to kill him will be awesome to see when and/or if they fight Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers 3. Plus I would really like to see the moment where Drax punches a hole through Thanos' chest in either the Guardians of the Galaxy or Avengers 3.

Agreed. The fact she was so awesome in Image made me love the fact of her being used again. Then she had one real fight with the Guardians for her marvel debut, and that was it!

she is still the best so far.

Her name carries alot of weight and respect with anyone who loves Image :)

Then you might want to pick another of the GotG since raccoons are about as closely related to rodents as are grisly bears or dingos.

I would say Drax but he's been lame lately. I guess I have to say Gamora.

Angela? Why would anyone pick her? She has no personality at all. So, my favorite was Star Lord before he became a kid somehow and lost everything that made him cool. Rocket Raccoon is fun, but yeah, he's kinda psychopathic now. Groot has always bored me. Drax is there... that's really all I can say so... Gamora!! My vote goes to Gamora.

I am not voting because I have never read any Guardians of the Galaxy though I think Drax, Groot, and Rocket Racoon look pretty cool.

Gamorangela. Or Angelamora? Either way, when Gamora and Angela fight together it is pretty awesome.
