@Ben Doverand Taykit:
Elektra, a character just about nobody cares about, turning out to be a skrull is not important in the great scheme of comics.  Its just the beginining of one mediocre crossover.

There are thousands of more iconic images.

Yes there are pictures that are MORE iconic, but that doesn't mean the pic isn't important. It was the beginning to a Marvel event that had resulted in huge ramifications for everyone. It was a big moment that led to a mediocre(but important) event.

The picture is no more important than the opening preludes to any of the other hundred crossovers.

It is no more iconic than say this image

Except in that it is more recent so younger comic readers might think it is relevant in the long run.  Rest assured, it is not.

"Important" things that happened because of Secret Invasion:
Wasp died (and nobody cares)
Tigra is pregers with a skrull (and nobody cares)
Norman Osborne takes over shield (until he gets kicked out at the end of Dark Reign)

See?  No long term important effects whatsoever and a mediocre story to boot.

She was pretty popular back when she was killed.I think the image of Bullseye holding her dead body up on her own weapon was pretty iconic.

" @-Eclipse-: In iconic value, I believe that Marvels 4 (the night she died) is also iconic - I recognised that cover years before reading Marvels. Also, other iconic covers (Amazing fantasy # 15, Action Comics # 1) were already posted. Ah, and I also think that Dark Knight Returns is iconic as well. Following, a few others, not necessarily iconic, but also good.

I can agree with that, but it was more because it was a DD villain killing a DD supporting character than because anybody really cared about Elektra.

She hadn't even had her own book when Bullseye killed her.  It was more like the Death of Gwen Stacy.  Spider-Man (DD) fans cared but there weren't really Gwen Stacy (Elektra) fans.  Just Spider-Man (DD) fans that also liked the character.

While the rest of the covers you posted are AWESOME, IMO, only the "Spider-man: No More" cover is iconic. Love it.

Oh, and Cap punching Hitler is perhaps the greatest cover of all time. Want to sell a comic? Make the cover a picture of your hero punching Hitler in the face.

Whaat? I'm sorry, but in my book nothing that Greg Land ever draws will be iconic. Nothing.

@Fastforward!: Some would consider these iconic.
