Post what you consider to be a very iconic comic book moment, cover art, or anything else. I have a couple but this is one of my favorites.

Hmm, either Cap's death shot on the steps of the courthouse or Superman breaking down in JUSTICE's opening scene.

Maybe, but only because everybody recognized it was a rip-off! :P

Wait, the Superman one did come after, right?

Independently if you like the character or not, you have to agree this was History being made.

I read in a Wizard once that  the Supes one came after, but they both came after a Thor cover like that (where Loki was lifting Thor in the same manner0< and that came after a Batman cover where Batman was holding Robin.

A long, confusing line, to be sure.

the Uncanny X-Men came about five years earlier or something like that but neither are the "original"

Was about 13 at the time. Being bored of Superman, this cover just re-ignited my interests once again. Dan Jurgen's artwork is just supreme, reminding me of a trés cool movie that came out a couple years before it (...Terminator 2).

Another iconic cover was the X-men cover with Wolvie on the front with wanted posters of the other X-men shown to be either captured or deceased...can't remember the story-arch (arrgh)! I remember a Star Wars cover that took inspiration from it, with Obi-Wan in front of another wanted poster, but with Jedi's on it.

Don't get me wrong, I love this image of Wonder Woman. Holding up the lasso of truth which to me represents how our Trinity of heroes are decieved and distracted from the real truth, its an amazingly fine cover...as fine as she looks on it, I myself probably wouldn't classify as iconic.

Things like the first appearance of a major super hero looking like they're jumping out of the cover (á la Batman and Spider-man firsts) or death of a much revered super hero (Steve Rogers and Superman), or a major turning pont in the history of a character/team/universe, I'd classify as iconic.

Its iconic for a couple reasons. All 7 IC covers by Micheal Turner are iconic (in my opinion of course). Also the fact that Wonder Woman has crafted a "Hangmen's Noose" out of the Lasso of Truth is a powerful visual image. That cover has taken one of the big three and transformed her into Judge, Jury, and Executioner. Not to mention the art is a masterpiece. One of the best looking Wonder Woman pictures ever.
