is it true Black Cat, Cat Woman, Sue Dibney and Dick Grayson were all raped? I think i remember reading about the last two. This is very unappealing. Even when it is in comics or movies or books, it just pisses me off and makes me want to stop reading or watching whatever it is that has it and and burn the medium its on. Does this bother any one else?
Comic Book Rape...
Yeah, they were. But it happens in real life tons of time.
Rogue was raped when she was captured and depowered once as well. I have no problem with it being presented in comics, makes it seem more realistic.
Ms.Marvel has been raped was well IIRC.Also Spider-Woman,and Jessica Jones-Cage have been raped.It doesn't bother me because it adds realism.Women get raped in real life.I would imagine they would in a fictional reality as well.

" @DEGRAAF: Black Cat was. It is part of her origin story. "
See Devin Grayson's run on Nightwing.
@Babs
I'm actually upset about how Dick was misled by his feelings for the woman. I know he cared very much for Barbara and it saddens me that the events that occurred had such a nasty impact on his life. He's never had a good life, one of the more..... victimized characters of DC's comics.
" Wait... Wasn't Black Manta Raped in his origin too? o_O these kinda things confued me when i wuz a kid reading Comic books... "I'm sorry but...LMFAO.
" @Dane said:Not possible. Wolverine doesn't turn down anything." It's the laziest plot device on the planet and it's overused so much nearly every female character and a good percentage of male characters have been raped. "Has Wolverine? Serious question, no sarcasm intended. Mind rape does not count. "

Someone actually said to me that there are two crimes that don't seem to happen in comics; paedophilia and rape.
Murder's fine, but not those two. I do find that odd, but I also totally understand it. With that said, something upping the stakes or emotional investment of a story by including a horrific crime can have a huge pay off. The most critically acclaimed things always tend to go for broke a little.
I always wanted the whole Mr. Sinister/Cyclops dynamic to be touched on, when he was in the orphanage and Sinister used to mess with him.
Sinister is tapping Cyclops'...... power?" Someone actually said to me that there are two crimes that don't seem to happen in comics; paedophilia and rape. Murder's fine, but not those two. I believe Kate Bishop was raped as well, that's what gave her the urge to become such a good fighter, so that it wuldn't happen again. I hate it as well, I mean I understand if it's apart of their origin, like Kate's for example because that shows why they chose to become who they are today, but when it came to Black Cat, Dick, and I even think there was a thread about Thor getting raped on here once, that's just pointless.

Nope, Sinister wants Cyclops' OTHER body part with one eye...

Yeah, I mean, having real life issues in comics make it where people can relate to the characters better.

@Vance Astro:
Jessica Jones-Cage? When?
"So in order to become a female hero you need to get raped? "I'm sorry, but I feel that this comment is a bit dumb.
