This.
Anything JMS writes is gold.
Superman: Grounded was terrible, Wonder Woman was meh and Superman: Earth One has problems.
I've only read the first three volumes, but I loved those volumes and John Romita Jr.'s art is perfect for the character.
I've read a bit of it, and it's pretty dang good. Definitely one of the best Spider-Man runs. My favorite Spider-Man runs:
1. Brian Michael Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man run.
2. Stan Lee's Spider-Man run.
3. J. Michael Straczynski's Spider-Man run.
4. Roger Stern's Spider-Man run.
@ryagan: Yeah, Bendis run on Spider-Man is the best.
Its started off OK, though a little derivative, and revisionist
At the halfway point it descended into pure soap-opera melodrama garbage.

JMS isn't responsible for Grounded. He stopped writing itto go right Superman Earth One. The issues he did write, however, were amazing
@sog7dc: Yes he did and the issues he did write were stupid and was a terrible rip off of O'Neal/Adams Green Lantern run instead of focusing on what happened to New Krypton.
He only wrote like the first 2 or three issues. How were they stupid? How did he rip them off?
@sog7dc: Stupid start of the story with Superman feeling bad that he didn't save a woman's husband from a brain tumor (while he was trying to stop a war between his people and earth that ended in the genocide of his people by the people he's protected for years!), nonsensical and inaccurate pseudo-philosophy, Superman being a dick to everyone even his wife and JMS having no idea how to talk about serious and complicated issues without going hamfisted and preachy (also been done before and better). He ripped off All-Star Superman's girl on a ledge and O'Neal/Adams' Green Arrow/Green Lantern 'you don't understand the normal people and let's go on a trip across America to confront the real issues'.
I hadn't considered that point about New Kyrpton. I also never read any of Green Lantern/ Green arrow. I wouldn't call that ripping it off. Superman has talked people off of ledges long before All star. But the other points you made I have to agree with.
Excellent, the best, pure awesomeness in terms of characterization, writing and doing characters right.(the only series where i liked May)
Could be better, and mediocre at many times, in terms of story...
I liked it by and large. Much better than Slott, whom I think is terrible. Though I'll admit, Slott's current ASM is much better now than the disasters that were "Ends of the Earth" or Spider-Island.
@punyparker: Which was your favorite story arc from his run ?

Coming Home.
i agree with @punyparker superb characterization and development. the irony of OMD is that the way JMS handled their reconciliation at the start of the run was beautiful.
some of the stories themselves though were whack though yes.
but you dont even care because you're hanging out with a well written Spidey the whole time.
@fallschirmjager: OMD has the rare mooshing of great writing and sh!t story. :P

dude i totally agree
the concept is annoying but the execution was great. I mean MJ stepping up and falling on the grenade because she knew Peter couldn't? If it wasn't so infuriating it would be beautiful.

Yeah, I felt the same, the whole concept of OMD made me feel sick, but the execution was excellent.

This is why it's more sad,guys.......the story was forced, because apparently Marvel HATES Mary Jane, and anything that has to do with her and Peter being together........and because writers live their lives, they never lived, through the characters they're writing,Peter has ,since, all kinds of useless and non-importand pu$$y hanging around him.......
@punyparker: Yeah, Peter and MJ should come back together, I find Spidey more interesting when he is in a relationship with her, the Parker/Spider-Man and Mary Jane dynamic is great when well written.

I loved the marriage.

Me too.
Damn you Quesada
Best 2000+ mainstream Spider-man run. It actually added to the character's lore and evolved Peter naturally. Awesome character moments. I admit it has its weak points but it is better, more in character and deeper than everything after Brand New Day.
Squall's comment sums up my thoughts on JMS' run well. Granted, he was the writer that ushered in two of the worst Spider-Man stories of all time but only Sins Past was really his fault, OMD was all down to Quesada screwing over Spider-Man really. And when JMS wrote his best Spider-Man stories, they were really, really good stories with great characterisation and evolution of the characters in the story. Such a shame his run ended as badly as it did.
Damn you Quesada

Hail fellow fans.
I grew up reading J. Michael Straczynski run of Spider-Man and it holds up even better for me today. Remember these great times:
