Your favorite underrated hero?

Of course, everyone has their favorite heroes. From what I've seen, their pretty common. I.e. Cap Am., Iron Man, Wolverine, Deadpool, Hulk, Supes, Bats, Spidey etc.

Whose your favorite underrated hero? Now, by underrated, I don't mean power wise. I mean in popularity.

I never thought Black Bolt was to popular up until this new Infinity Saga and Black Bolt has always been a personal favorite.

What about you guys? Got any? If so, why?

Quite alot but I will name some.

Dr Solar, Judge Dredd, Deadman, Phantom Stranger, Captain Atom etc.

@jwwprod: Good choices, I've actually never heard of Captain Solar, Judge Dredd is awesome imo. Never got into Deadman until recently with DC's whole trinity stuff. PS is interesting, and I was never a fan of Cap Atom.

Does Hawkeye count?

Eh... I can't say he's underrated but he's definitely not the most popular.

How is one underrated in popularity? You're either popular or you aren't

All of them deserve a solo series in my opinion. They can all be downright awesome with a good writer writing them.

@fallschirmjager: Well... yeah I guess , bluntly, but they're are levels. For example, Hawkeye isn't as popular as Hulk or IM, Ronin isn't that popular at all. Batman and Supes are top tier when it comes to it etc.

@the_red_viper: I agree with literally all of them except, I think GR and Shazam are pretty popular though. They definitely need their own series but I don't think their underrated in popularity.

As a rule I'm more a fan of B and C list villains but some of my favorite obscure heros would be.

Shazam really got more popular lately, especially with the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game and that Geoff Johns story in the New 52, but I still think he deserves more. An ongoing Shazam run can be a killer.

GR got a little more popular since his 2 movies but I think he deserves more as well. He's really a great character, one of my faves in Marvel.

Adam Strange: this guy is the ultimate survivor, gives Batman a run for his money in strategy and beating the odds.

@the_red_viper: I think Shazam and GR definitely need their solo series. Shazam has been doing pretty well in New52 his new more rugged personality is for the better imo.

Awesome list, haven't seen these names in awhile. I think Iron Fist just out shines here. He's always been awesome to me.

I have not seen these names in a while. Blast frm the past almost. I never even heard of Madrox. Good list.

The Question is one of my favorite characters (Vic not Montoya). I wish DC used him more efficiently.

I find myself favoring a lot the underrated hero's over the more popular ones. Mainly in DC. I've always been a huge fan of Zauriel and Aztek ever since Morrison's JLA. I've always loved The Outsiders because they usually highlight the lesser known characters of the DCU.

True. Separately, the X-Men besides Wolverine are barely even known really, but I think as a whole they are somewhat known.

Figures no one else would mention Jack of Hearts, though he hasn't been around for a while.

Oh, another character that I forgot, which I really think should get some more respect...

Wonder Woman.

She is part of the DC Trinity (Supes, Bats, WW), but why is she never treated as such? She is a great character and she has had some great runs (the N52 run started out good but now it isn't all that great from what I heard, didn't read it actually). She's this "no one's favorite super hero that just kinda has to be there" in my eyes. She would have gotten so much more attention if I could help it.

Because one might not be as popular as you think he/she should be. Hence, he/she would be underrated in terms of popularity.

My top 3 (DCU at least) are Animal Man, Swamp Thing, and John Constantine. They're all somewhat popular characters, but often underestimated in terms of power/ability. All 3 don't seem like much up front (except maybe Swamp Thing, he's a bit intimidating) but they have so much potential (see Buddy Baker replicating himself by using the abilities of bacteria on his opponents).
