X-Men Days of Future Past vs Godzilla 2014
I'll get back to you when I see DoFP.
When are you going to see it?
@k4tzm4n: Hmmmm. Understandable. I personally enjoyed Godzilla more but i can see the appeal in x men.

It's a subject I'm very passionate about, so I'll elaborate once I'm done writing Best Battles :D
Marketing: Godzilla
The actual movie: DoFP
@those_eyes: I'm going to try to see it this weekend.
I didn't like DOFP that much after seeing it the second time,Haven't seen Godzilla and probably won't see it
Overall maybe x men was a better movie but Godzilla had a bigger highlight point.
True, the final fight was epic.

Why aren't you a fan of Godzilla? It was a good movie.
Both films have their flaws in some form or another, I'll go with X:DoFP.
Imo the only flaw in Godzilla was bryan cranston was meh. They should have shown Godzilla fighting the muto longer instead of cutting to another shot. They should not have had Godzilla fall down from a building hitting him no matter how tired he was, I facepalmed so hard when he fell from the building.
Godzilla was as absolute snooze-fest, in my opinion, but that's maybe because I just don't care much of Giant monster/Robot. X-Men wins for me, as of now it's my favorite movie of the year.

whicmutant did you like most out of the dofp cast?
DOFP was by far a superior film. One of the best CBM's of all time.
The only comic book film since the TDK to deserve an Academy Award nom, though it probably won't get it cos of the genre. McAvoy also probably deserves a best actor nom.
Enjoyed Godzilla much though.
@those_eyes: Fassbender's Magneto was an absolute delight.
I could go on and on for paragraphs, but I think I'll keep it simple and use bullet points. Anyway, I loved DoFP and only enjoyed Godzilla.
Godzilla positives
- Some excellent cinematography and visuals.
- Strong performances from Cranston and Olsen.
- Slow approach successfully built the hype for Godzilla.
- The final fight.
Godzilla negatives
- The most compelling character -- Cranston -- barely gets any time.
- A vast majority of the focus is on a character with absolutely zero charisma. This is only one bullet point but it's a pretty big negative.
- Watanabe and his colleague are purely exposition.
- I don't mind inspiration, but some seemed blatantly taken from Jurassic Park.
- Over the top score.
DoFP positives
- Superb performances (most notably from McAvoy).
- Really enjoyed the directing for a few specific scenes.
- Quicksilver made all of us eat our words. His scene is pure joy.
- Wolverine is technically the main character but doesn't steal the spotlight at all. Feels more like a supporting character and that's great because he's already had PLENTY of focus.
- We get just enough of the future to appreciate how dire the situation is and it produces jaw-dropping fights.
- Doesn't waste time trying to juggle too many characters. Focuses on a core group and we learn the basics about the rest through their actions.
- Massively cheerworthy ending.
- Hype-building credits scene.
DoFP negatives
- Dinklage is underused.
- Feeding us ANY explanation of a character's new power would be nice.
- Personal gripe: Colossus still gets no love.

Again, this lol You literally hit the nail. And I enjoyed Godzilla too.
@k4tzm4n: Yeah man. I said it earlier but I think McAvoy deserves a best actor nom. Some of his scenes are amazing. The plane scene is a go-to one but one of the other scenes where he's like
"I didn't trade my powers for my legs, I traded them so I could sle--"...amazing.
Godzilla was all build up with little payoff. Serious disappointment.
DOFP absolutely knocked it out of the park on all fronts. I didn't think anything would top Winter Soldier this year but what do you know, it only went and did it. The future looks bright for the franchise.
So yeah X-men>Godzilla
@wolverine08: Just heard that it was apparently Hugh's choice to have the "full nude" scene in DOFP. It wasn't originally written like that.
apparently he said "Wolverine doesn't wear boxers or briefs."

That's what I'm talking about! Wear that masculinity proudly!

Yae he is one of the best actor's I've seen in a long time. Should get an award.
Days of Future Past.
Godzilla's last 20 minutes are pretty much the only reason to see it.

As a whole Dofp was a better movie but the highlight of Godzilla (last 20 minutes) was better than the highlight of dofp.
Loved both films, and honestly don't understand all of the b**ching about Godzilla being in the movie "for only 5 minutes," but this one goes to DoFP. I love X-Men and this film was what I was anticipating for around a year.

This. DOFP was much better IMO
@k4tzm4n: thread/
Now that I've seen both, I can say that I liked DoFP more.
I still liked Godzilla though (and this is coming from someone who had no prior experience with it).

I do think x-men was consistently good throughout the whole movie a tad more than Godzilla was. I do hope Godzilla 2 will be able to redeem itself. I still can't believe you never really any previous Godzilla stuff but glad you liked it.
