Yes 39%

I haven't gotten a chance to check out this book yet, but it's always looked interesting to me. Anyone have any incite on the whole series so far published?

It's way too inconsistent to recommend adding it to a pull list.

How much did you like Starfire Pre-New 52?

If you liked her, then I wouldn't recommend it.

I can't recommend anything written by Scott Lobdell.

Beata

It didn't ruin Roy, Cry for Justice and what happened after that ruined him. It just prevented anyone from using the reboot to make him good.

I found the Lobdell/Rocafort issues surprisingly good. If you wanted to read the series, I'd read those, the Starfire arc, and then the last 2 issues of Lobdell's run before Tynion takes over. Nothing else is worth reading after that.

The early issues were good/OK but then it got progressively worse.

It's the first series featuring the Red Hood that I've read. While perhaps a little cliche or mediocre, it did make me really like Jason Todd.

Cry for Justice and Rise of Arsenal didn't put Roy in a trucker hat.

Find it quite surprising how this book is either loved or hated. I didn't read anything on the 3 characters before the N52 so won't comment haha.

@eyedcyou: Yeah I figured you'd want a detailed explanation of what the series is like, and who it's audience is. You should support that guy's channel, he is the absolute best at getting new readers into comics, and he has a ton of really good videos for any comic fan.

@captainmarvel4ever: I actually love his channel (better than comicbookfan19) however, I still think that RHATO needs to be fundamentally reworked in order to reach it's full potential.

IDK, I like the idea it presents of 3 broken young heroes who have endured the harsher side of being a hero, which has given them each a flaw to work through. As the book goes on it's nice to see each character evolve and grow. In fact, this is probably the one book in the New 52 I'm happy Lobdell is working on.

The idea might have been nice but many characters in the DCU have endured the harsher side of being a hero, so these guys aren't unique in that aspect, certainly not enough to create a team book. Even with that idea, the execution has been sloppy at best because Lobdell has made many of these characters so shallow that there is really no incentive for the reader to want to see the characters improve. There's only a few instances where there is any sort of human touch put into them. Not to mention that the team is mismatched. Starfire should never haven been in RHATO in the first place, she's too powerful, not a dark enough character, certainly not an outlaw and her cosmic background takes the team into outer space which doesn't gel with the world of Jason and Roy, it feels awkward seeing Red Hood in space.

To be honest for RHATO to work better, they need actual outlaws. Characters like Ravager and probably Huntress would have fit the book better, personally I would add anti-villains instead of heroes or anti-heroes and that would solve a lot of the problems the run has been having, because there is a reason why the series has fallen so low. Though I do think a shakeup is going to come next spring(please no Donna or Garth).

I wouldn't pay cold hard cash for it. But if you can get your hands on it there are some great moments. But to most they will seem few and far between.
