Would YOU go to war?

If I have to, yes and if I don't have to, than no.

i will only go to war if the other side doesn't want piece. because some people just want destruction.

He is not, he put in words what I was thinking when I wrote my original comment. I just chose not to argue about it. Anyway, yeah, this question is pointless since you are not allowing a reason for war - yet you want to know if we would go into one. It's basically just asking if we would be willing to get mutilated and killed for no reason.

I honestly would never want to take the life of another human being so I'm gonna have to say no. Of course I have a knee injury which would prevent me from joining the military anyway so its kind of a moot point.

even without watching these videos I wouldn't go to war. Let's say in a few years me and my gf that i have been dating for quite some time, decide to get married and have kids. Now I'm not only risking my life, but my childs life. I'm an American and I've been asked this question before. I love my country dearly I really do. But whenI was asked this question I immediately just think about how my mom would react if someone came to the door to tell her that I had been killed in action. She would be devastated. I just can't live with myself knowing theres a chance that could happen.

I've deployed twice to Afghanistan. Been in...let's say several combat engagements. I'm still active duty.

So, yes, I would. I have. And will again.

But I don't knock people who wouldn't. The world needs soldiers and civilians alike.

If I didn't have a family to take care of I would serve my country if need be. I would prefer to be a fighter pilot.

Me as well. I can't answer the question because I need to understand what I am going to war over? For instance, is Canada going to war over something I don't agree with, on a fundamental level? Like, going to Afghanistan was understandable (not really a war, but just for the sake of this thread I'm throwing it in here) and yet we didn't join in the invasion of Iraq. I wouldn't say WOOHOO, let's get'em to represent my country in any war. Who does? I'm talking in an international playing field, not one where hostilities have been encouraged historically.

I can't answer the question because like stated above, the way it is now, it's like asking if I am willing to get blown to bits because I happen to be a citizen of a country who entered a war I don't know the reasons for. Makes no sense.

Ok let's say that your country has been ordered to repay it's debt. Your country says no, and the country who demanded the money is threating military action, your country then initiates war with said country. And your countries allies are then brought into the war. thus initiating WW3

Well, that's really difficult. I guess I would go to war since what makes me any more important than my fellow Canadian? In your scenario, I'm imagining the other country has decided to throw away previously agreed time allowances for the repayment of its loan, which would put them in the wrong and so, yes, I would go to war for my country. Our allies wouldn't align with us if it weren't for the unfairness because if the reverse were true and it was a matter of Canada reneging on its financial responsibilities, we'd be alone in our fight against this imaginary country.

Plus, to complicate things, Canada wouldn't (couldn't) ever declare war on another country without the United States agreeing. This is the truth.

The prospect of losing a body part or never seeing the light of day again terrifies me. If I do end up going to war I'd be scared of ending up being one of the first casualties..
