Most of the time I don't care about the writer but in this case it'd have to either be a writer I really like or a really cool sounding story line since I don't love the BLC all that much.

The book would require some strong characterization, because I feel that a book of pacifists would be quite dull on the action side.

Depends on the writer. I like Saint Walker and the Blue Lanterns, but I could easily see the book becoming a train wreck if put in the wrong hands.
