Thought about this for a while, and it REALLY makes sense. He is entirely selfless, has COMPLETE control of his emotions and often denies passions, is a highly skilled combatant, incredibly wise. So...How would he fare as a Jedi? Who would his master be? What would he be like?
Would Batman make the perfect Jedi?
The way you described him sounds like obi-wan. Which is a good thing. But j see him being more like qui-gon jinn. Someone who is willing to bend the rules every now and again
@jayc1324: he's also already been trained by qui-gon
@drmantistoboggan: Yup, so it would make sense that Jinn would be a good master for Bruce
Fear, this boy has.
Corrupts, fear does.
Trained, Bruce will not.
Batman doesn't have fear. At least, not anymore.
Batman would make a terrible Jedi.
Why?
Batman this, batman that........
Dude, I HATE Batman, but I still think he would be a great Jedi.

I love Batman and I think he would make a poor Jedi. He only qualifies on paper not practice.

Jedi are trained since they are little. It is usually a bad idea to train them any older than 8-9 because their mind by then is either corrupted or too grown to be trained starting with a light heart. Which is why Yoda was against training Anakin. However, if they do train Bruce since he was 8, he still would have the fear of bats and still would've been corrupted by his parents' deaths.
IMO, while he may have his fear under control for the most part, Batman possesses far too much rage to be considered for Jedi training. I've seen it happen quite often in his titles. The things he witnesses enrage him to the point he beats people half to death on a nightly basis. Righteous anger is still anger, and anger leads to the Dark Side. While he may not kill, he wants to so badly at times he can taste it. While he has admirable control over this urge, I feel it would be far too great a risk to teach him to manipulate the Force.
Besides, he does such an admirable job with the resources currently at his disposal. No need to amp him further.
@retconcrisis: @dwrathborne: Lukes (adopted) parents were killed. Luke was a teenager. Luke had fear and rage. Sooo, yeah, I don't see what would be holding back Bruce from becoming a successful jedi.
Although, to be honest, he'd make a much better sith or maybe a gray jedi.
I'd say he'd be a decent Sith but he's no Jedi. His rage and overall darkness would lure him towards the Dark Side. Also, for the most part he has it under control but he does have fear and... I'll let Yoda explain the rest:

Luke's a special case. The events he experienced, the training he went through, and his lineage were not typical of ANY Jedi.
@juiceboks: also he had a high volume of midichlorians in his DNA, I don't think the force was strong in Thomas Wayne
"Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering. Suffering to the dark side"
Batman fears plenty of things, but his biggest fear is Joker's unpredictability. Joker has driven him to anger many times before and he certainly does hate Joker. See where I'm going with this?
@superguy1591: he would make a supremely powerful Sith, but that pesky no kill rule might cause some issues
@onemoreposter: Yes, Luke had fear and rage, but not nearly so much as Bruce Wayne. Luke was much older than Bruce when his Aunt and Uncle were killed, thus better able to deal with it. Plus they weren't murdered right in front of him, so he wasn't nearly as traumatized by their deaths. He wasn't obsessively training himself for twenty years to make the Empire and anyone like them pay for what they'd done in order to impose some sense of sanity and justice in the universe. He did what he thought was right, and yet he still almost fell to the Dark Side in Return knowing full well the danger.
So, is it possible that Batman could make a good Jedi? Well, anything's possible in comics and science fiction, but I wouldn't take the risk if it were my decision. I believe he'd view the Force as just another tool in his arsenal. Another weapon in his crusade so to speak. He'd try to control it rather than let it act through him as the Jedi teach.
It also depends a lot upon what Batman you see when you envision him in your head. I see him as a determined and talented, yet flawed individual who's sanity is questionable at times.
Honestly, the Joker would drive Batman to the Dark Side faster than Yoda can mispronounce the word "up"

you hate batman and think the prequels are some of the best movies of all time... what are you? you frighten me
No way, Bruce has way to many issues and is self admittedly emotionally damaged.
And I know this will open a can of worms but Post Crisis Superman would make a good Jedi.
@superguy1591: Haha I already posted that video :P
A Jedi has to be willing to kill when necessary. And Batman as we all know has a strict no killing policy.
I think Superman would make a much better Jedi same goes for Wonder Woman. Being a Jedi is about alot more then looking cool with a light saber, its about having the absolute will to do whats necessary. Batman has way to many screws lose for him to even be a decent Jedi let alone a perfect Jedi.I'm almost absolutely certain Batman would end becoming a sith way before he ever becomes a Jedi. Theres just to much darkness in his past.

GASP! I have a BACKBONE!!
Like some people have said, Batman has quite a few characteristics that make him unfit to be a Jedi.
Batman this, batman that........
Lol. This.
Even though he has some personality traits that would be agreeable with the Jedi way, I do think that there is one key element of Batman's character that would keep him from being a great Jedi and possibly lead him to be a Sith Lord. Batman operates through instilling fear and that really lends itself into the way the Sith operate.

This. If he had midiclorians.
I think he'd be a better Sith.

Pretty much agree with this. He'd probably find the Sith way more effective.

i applaud you not bowing to the consensus opinion... but you must understand that claiming the prequel movies are some of the best movies ever made is an outrageous claim. like "i invented the question mark" or "chestnuts are lazy" kind of outrageous. also hating batman? i feel like you are projecting your spidey darevdevil bias on that one.

By "best ever" I mean 100 best ever. There are only so many One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nests and Godfathers.
