Poll Worst Marvel Movie to Date? (103 votes)
Which do you think are the worst commercially released Marvel movies? Post why you think so.
P.S. I know that's way too many choices, but all deserve the opportunity to be criticized.

Howard the Duck, Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengance, Thor: The Dark World, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Definitely Captain America.
I don't say Howard the Duck because... at least it's unique...
Everything else ranges from great-to-watchable. Just because something disappointed you doesn't make it worthless.
Anyone giving 'bad' votes to GOTG or Iron man is a DC fanboy and shouldn't be allowed to vote at all.
The worst three are no doubt Dare Devil, Elektra and Ghost rider.
They we each commercial and artistic flops with barely any redeeming qualities where actors just phoned in their lines going through meandering Glacier pace plots while interacting with 3rd-grade CGI-effects. Toby Mcguire in Raimi's spiderman-3 was pretty bad too but at least you could watch the film without of the need for commercial breaks to end the tedium.
Uh! You reminded me of that movie....
God please stop! This I swear was a horror movie made to surpass Alien in scariness...
@bluelantern1995: Duck boobs........ Duck boobs, and a keytar......
Spirit of Vengeance
My dad and I both agree that's probably one of the worst marvel movies
For me, next is spider-man 3
As a kid I enjoyed it, then after watching it again (Along with spectacular spider-man) I realize just how terrible I find it to be
spiderman 3 wasn't that bad, it was definitely better than some on this list
Agreed.
The thing is any MCU film is really not a bad movie, just not as good as the rest. I actually enjoyed Iron Man 3 *dodges items thrown at him*. It was dissapointing in some ways yes but it wasn't a bad film. Same with Thor 2 i don't understand why it got so much hate.
Anyway, Spirit of Vengence, Spiderman 3, Electra.
From the MCU:
- Thor: The Dark World
- Iron Man 3
Both are incredibly mediocre films that only serve as proof that Marvel could slap that MCU logo on a turd and people would love it. I know film is subjective, but when one is critiquing it's best to remain as objective as possible. You can love a film and still know it's garbage. With that in mind, I really don't see how people defend the quality of these two movies.
From other Marvel properties:
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine
- Elektra
- Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
I assume these all go without saying lol
I haven't seen Howard the Duck, 1990 Captain America, or Punisher War Zone
Based on what I've seen:
Honorable mentions include Daredevil, Ghost Rider, The Amazing Spider-Man, & Iron Man 3
Lol
I always vote X-Men Origins: Wolverine as the worst ,it was both disappointing and bad. Same with Spider-man 3, but I don't think it was as bad. The FF was so bad I didn't bother with FF-Rise of Silver Surfer, which most say is even worse. I don't see how that's even possible. I've seen 7 of the 10 MCU movies, I don't think any of them have been horrible, but Iron Man 2 and 3 were let-downs after the first Iron Man rocked so much.
DC executives must look at lists like this and crap themselves over how little they have done with their properties.
Initially I was going to vote for Daredevil, that was such a horrible movie. But what could be worse than Daredevil? The "spin-off" movie, Elektra. Such an awful movie; I couldn't even watch the whole thing. There are plenty of bad ones on this list, but Elektra has to be the worst.
The Avengers. Loki was trying too hard to be the Dark Knight's Joker. The Avengers spend most of the movie fighting each other and the last fifteen minutes fighting a random space alien army. Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of supervillain for you guys to fight or something? I get they are saving Thanos til later, but seriously, give us SOMETHING! Random Mook Number 14482 doesn't make for a convincing antagonist... Also, these and the two Captain America movies are the only Marvel movies I've watched.
@hwkfan296: I actually enjoyed Iron Man 3
Me too.
General audience actually loves Iron Man 3, it won the best movie in 2013 in the People´s Choice Awards
@symbioticspider-man: a fellow NC fan?
Yes sir!
But his quality has declined lately :(
Oh god, i beg ye poor soul, stay thy hand far from reach for GhostRider spirit of vengance seeks to destroy your very mind
I only watched Captain America and a few X-mens but I thought Captain America was pretty bad.
Wait. Do you mean those are the only super hero movies you've seen? If so color me flabbergasted.
@joe_chill: Why? I'm really curious. Cause these movies especially Marvel in the last 5 years have taken the world by storm. Not only geeks like us but now the masses want and go see these movies more than any genre or sub-genre at this point and i just find it extremely surprising (and intriguing) that a forum member on a comic book website has not watched some of the most successful movies (financially and critically) in the comic book genre of the past few years.
Also i mean this in the most polite way possible. I just get incredibly curious about humans and why they do the thing they do or don't, so something as simple as this really gets me going.
@pinecone: haha I really don't know, its an interesting question though. I mean..... I guess its because I've never really cared for characters like Thor, Cap or the Hulk so I don't really care about seeing the movies. My friends don't watch any CBMs so they don't pressure me to watch them. I mean I've seen little clips of movies like Spiderman on youtube and stuff, but everything i've seen hasn't made me want to see the movie. The Xmen movies are really good though.
@joe_chill: Man now you just made me even more curious. I have a few questions if you'll indulge me (you don't have to).
1- Do you read marvel comics. or a lot of comics in general for that matter?
2-Do you watch movie regularly? like more than 2 a month and if so what are your favorite genres.
3- how old are you? you don't have to be specific.
4- What is/was your main reason for joining comic vine.
