I was browsing through my collection today and I came across this

I didn't even have to flip through it. Vividly I remember how much I disliked it. Not only did it have nothing to do with any sort of "Year One," overall the book made little sense and was extremely ill fitting in the then current continuity. It was a collection of a 2 issue prestige format miniseries about the death of Ras and the creation of "the final" Lazarus pit, at a time when that EXACT SAME story was being told in a completely different way in the main Batman book (in a little story called Death and the Maidens). What then you ask was the drawing point about Ras Year One? It had zombies.

I thought to myself, "This is the worse graphic novel I ever purchased."

So, how bout it? What's the worst graphic novel you ever purchased? It'ed be cool if you posted a short description and a picture, but if you don't that's cool too.

Uh i think death and the maidens was a miniseries, but i agree. i never even heard of that comic but im not surprised though, sounds pretty crappy and i always thought paul gulacys art was terrible

The worst graphic novel ive ever read would be batman: through the looking glass, even though a lot of people like sam kieths art i really dislike it, plus the story was a terrible mess and they really mishandled mad hatters character

You've got to give everything a good try, even if you don't like it at first. I actually started out hating WATCHMEN!

I bought an avengers trade paper back that has "Avengers: terminatrix objective" which was terrible, horrible art, god awful, and the worst most confusing writing that I have ever read.

It is definitely a pretty bad read. However, it was published two years after Death and the Maidens and it is supposed to be a sequel to Rucka's miniseries. To ensure that Ra's would STAY dead, Batman destroyed all the Lazarus Pitts and he now has to pay the consequences for it...ie zombies for some stupid reason.

This also.  I tend to check out the comic from the library first before I actually decide to buy the comic.

You meant this was the BEST graphic novel you ever bought right? (....Zero Hour and related materials was one of my favorites : P....)

Yes, but the library is so limited. I, for the first time in years, am blessed with being a regular at a comic shop that lets me just hang out and read books for hours (because they know I spend a bit of money in there and they're not ###holes). However, there has been many times, particularly when I was younger when that was not the case. Till this day I don't put much faith in internet reviews. Individual tastes being different and all that.

I guess what I'm saying is you're all very lucky if you've never bought a TPB that you didn't like

Most of my purchases are pretty solid. I did once buy the printed format of the Heroes web comics. Boring and terrible.
