Will the Shazam film be based on New 52

I finally got around to reading to New 52 Shazam and absolutely hate what Johns did. I cant think of a comic I hated this much. It got me wondering if it would be based on it or take inspiration from older comics. I wanting to be excited for this film and I was, but I just dont now. What do you guys think?

All we know about that film is that it will develop Black adam a lot. Which is a good start.

at this point nothings safe to say tbh. i think they might be just mixing stuff up because apparently were getting wonder woman's new 52 origin but her pre new 52 stories were on the table since they were toying with the idea of ww2..not to mention BvS is clearly borrowing some things from TDKR so im guessing they are just pulling from whatever works best so im guessing they might pull something from new 52 shazam but im sure theyll pull from some other stuff too

I think it'll be a modern take on the character(s), kind of like how Man of Steel is a modern take on Superman and strays away from the Silver Age/Donner era of the character....but HOPEFULLY they'll have the good sense to inject some of the classic pre/post-crisis themes of the character(s) as well.....I am expecting Billy to probably be some bratty hipster adolescence tho, but I hope I'm wrong.

@thecybr0g: I guess you're right. I just cant help but feel like the Fantastic Four fans against the new movie if it is based on New 52. I do hope it does use some of the pre New 52 elements.

@darkdetective27: the rock wants to be a part of the DCEU for a while so Black Adam & Lex Luthor will be developed big time.

They've stated Shazam will be unlike the other DC films we've seen so far, and apparently Black Adam will resemble more of an antihero. That leads me to believe it will take inspiration from more than just the recent versions of the character.

I hope so. The origin story Johns did early on was nice.

Besides, if the movie is called "Shazam," it should be based on the New 52 version.

@zaied: I think they said that when New Line Cinema was going to do it. Im not sure what WB has planned for it.
