Will/Should Marvel Re-Boot the Marvel Universe in 2015?

I read somewhere a week or two ago that Marvel might well do a re-boot next year, apparently thinking that such a move proved successful for DC. I guess this raises two questions: (1) Will they do a re-boot? (2) Should they do a re-boot?

Personally, I have always been opposed to such a move. However, I am beginning to think that such a drastic ploy might just help Marvel's sales in their competition with DC. Hence, I am willing now to predict Marvel will re-boot the Marvel Universe, either in 2015 or 2016, and that they probably should do so.

They may sell more books, but from what I see Batman is almost always the best-selling book of the month.

Meanwhile, DC's best book is lucky if it makes the top 100.

I really hope they don't. I get the feeling a Marvel reboot would change a lot of the canon.

In the comics or the MCU? Either way no, I like all the history that comes with the universe would seem like such a waste to reboot it and throw it all aside.

Marvel has a lot of good things going right now and a lot of good character evolutions. I don't see the reboot serving a purpose at this point. Maybe if they were in a lull or low point, but they aren't. A reboot for the sake of a reboot would be silly.

Marvel should reboot in 2024ish by that time they can have Robert Downey Jr. cameo as Howard Stark... that would be cool.

Why would they? I thought they created a whole list of things/movies that go way past 2015. They are at the top of there game. Keep em coming Marvel.

NO and NO.

The reboot is not happening.

If anything, Marvel mocks the fact DC's reboot went so horribly.

Are you asking this question because there is apparently new Crisis reboot happening at DC for April 2015?

damn straight there has literally been almost like... NO failures in marvel now. (other than dillon on thunderbolts and that no drawing hack on she hulk)

it would be down foolish if not suicidal to reboot the universe after such success with these title relaunches

Good lord, no. I'd like to think that Marvel learned by witnessing the craptastic New 52 reboot.

I like the fact that a comic from 1964 is still canon, and relevant.

I would accept it only if they gave a time period to let all marvel stories finish without any loose ends like they would say we'll reboot in 2016 instead of just suddenly doing it even then it'd have to be the most over the top stuff ever written. They already have 40 percent of the market it would seem like they were going for 50. And Deadpool would somehow cause the new universe

Breevort already shot it down when Rich Johnston from Bleedingcool was spewing his typical rumor mongering nonsense a month ago.

Rather than reboot they should just make films about the Ultimate-verse when they get tired of the current Marvel Cineverse.

Anyone who still thinks it's the same universe as it's always been is a delusional dipstick drinking brand loyalist kool-aid. Marvel has had lots of soft reboots over the years and constantly tweek events and origins, there is no such thing as consistency of character or reliable continuity. If they rebooted in 2015, it would only further cement what has been pretty obvious for years now.

@strider92: If they do make a new Cineverse, it's unlikely to be cribbed directly off of comic continuity. Rather it'd probably be an MCU-2.
