Hmm....I dunno to be honest, I doubt it but it could happen.

#3 Posted by DarkKnightDetective (7075 posts) - 10 months, 2 days ago - Show Bio

funny that you mention that because I was about the same thing this morning, and no I do not think so, the only way that comics are going to die is If a zombie apocalypse happens or something like that.

#4 Posted by Onemoreposter (2762 posts) - 10 months, 2 days ago - Show Bio

As as such, neither will comics

#5 Edited by Enosisik (1153 posts) - 10 months, 2 days ago - Show Bio

Maybe in print but people will always write and draw. I'm sure digital comics will be all that's left in 100 years or so as far as Marvel and DC go but smaller companies will still be trying to break into it by putting out books .

#6 Posted by CrimsonCake (2611 posts) - 10 months, 2 days ago - Show Bio

Comic books will evolve in the future,In the future you'll be able to read comics using augmented reality lenses.

They will last, most likely in a full transition to digital form.

No, Not really

Books didn't die. 2-D animation didn't die. Videogames didn't kill off movies. PCs didn't kill off gaming consoles.

Comics will live forever...but necessarily in printed form.

Who knows, online comics will help continue a discontinue comics. It works for Fleetway’s Sonic the Comic. there will be fight with webcomics with comics, than earth's comics vs another planet's comics. You can see where this is going.

In the form many of us are accustomed to, yes.

The days of a printed monthly, set page number title will disappear slowly.

As to what it will become? that's still to be determined but IMO it will resemble webcomics far more than the print ones of today

Yes. Everything will die eventually. The question is will comics die before we do?

#18 Posted by InfamousFish (352 posts) - 10 months, 1 day ago - Show Bio

Instead of dying, I see them increasing. More and more people are getting interested, so no it will grow!

I don't agree. Many schools use comics as a medium as teach children. They used the sandman and to teach children.I don't see marvel and dc dying as soon.I don't know, I can't predict the future.

As a medium,  in a general sense, yes. As a book, I do hope not; the same goes for all books, there is nothing better than inhaling a spine.

Do you know by chance where this is from? Is it All-Star?

#23 Posted by JohnnyWalker (821 posts) - 10 months, 1 day ago - Show Bio

printed comics. yes any day now. comic as a category/genre/class/whatever will never die.

#24 Posted by Onemoreposter (2762 posts) - 10 months, 1 day ago - Show Bio

@NlGHTCRAWLER: It's from Batman 676, the first part of Batman R.I.P. I do believe.

#25 Edited by ArtGamer (1262 posts) - 10 months, 1 day ago - Show Bio

@DarkKnightDetective: zombies needs comics too, you racist...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i thought the same, unless the companies go all digital, or at least that's my solution

Just like JohnnyWalker said, Comic as a genre will almost never die, too many people like it and people get too much profit from it for it to die. XD But Comics as books I'm sure WILL evolve into a Futuristic Fashion through small Tablets maybe? But I hope not at all...But I don't know. We'll have to live and find out.

I hope not but it does seem possible with print media in such steep decline.

Neh the medium of art and script to tell a story is too engaging.

It's like reading a movie, just because a lot of people don't read comics, doesnt make it irrelevant, long live comics!!

I'm sure they won't, can you find a superhero show on TV that beats the New 52, or the Heroic Age of Marvel, or even just well-done fanfics. If they start making superhero cartoons, shows, or movies, that are 3x better than there comic counterparts then maybe.

There's alot of stuff you can do in comics that you can't do in cartoons (endless its on adult swim but not many people tune into it) that can slide in comics like Rule 34, blood, and cursing.

Just like everything else, yes. Even the sun isn't eternal.

EVER READ A BOOK BY TERRY PRATCHETT?

WELL, THERE IS NO JUSTICE, THERE IS JUST ME;

I think with the rise of digital and interactive comics that the industry is safe for now, the far future... who knows.

They will eventually die at some point just not in the next few lifetimes at least

#43 Posted by marvelcomicsandbatmanfanatic (91 posts) - 10 months, 1 day ago - Show Bio

2 billion years from now, when the sun expands and consumes earth, comics will die.

maybe one day we will get hologram comic books...

and maybe one day in the distant future we will get comic books without Robert Liefeld writing or drawing them.......

One day.....

One day.

Always a possibility. I think it will evolve into something else, like how books have started to turn digital, but I don't think we can be too sure.

#48 Posted by icysloth (1305 posts) - 10 months, 21 hours ago - Show Bio

If you consider Manga comic books, then the overall reader base is actually growing not dying.

#49 Posted by derf_jenkins (203 posts) - 10 months, 21 hours ago - Show Bio

A world without comic books is no world for me.
