You know, like one that looks believable and follows a cohesive plot, that works for a movie and still remains faithful to the anime/manga.

Here is a pretty cool fan made trailer. If they actually had money from a big studio then yea, it's possible. Akira should write the story if they don't based it on the manga/anime.

I think the best we could get would be a completely cgi movie...hopefully by the same guys that made FFVII: Advent Children cause that was amazing

There have been many live action adaptations of Journey to the West in both tv and movies. Dragonball and Dragonball Z are mostly kung fu so it can be done like Matrix kung fu.
