I was thinking about this, and after watching that awful omelet scene, I came to an enlightening conclusion: the reason that they made this change was literally narrative laziness!

Think about it: all Whedon can write is snark, and not even intelligently. Thus, he needed a reason for why Ultron, a character who should sound (in voice, dialogue, and characterization) more like Shockwave and Soundwave from Transformers, would speak with the same generic snark that Iron Man speaks with.

Literally, listen to Ultron's awful dialogue, and tell me that it wouldn't sound right at home coming out of RDJ's mouth!

I agree, he is just a robot version of Stark. He has so much potential as well.

@wrglfan2814: I wasn't even hyped for this movie, and I'm disappointed.

Can you imagine what people who actually wanted to see it feel like? Honestly, can you blame the hate?!!

@vivide: sadly, so are most MCU villain actors. Eccleston and Kingsley are good actors, too. They were also wasted.

Other than the first trailer Ultron's dialogue has been pretty bad I must say.

I don't see what the problem with Ulron's dialogue is. I don't think he sounds like Stark. But if he does I'm gonna say it's because Whedon is a genius and willed it that way lol.

Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Astonishing X-Men.....but his MCU work doesn't even begin to compare IMO

Whedon is incapable of writing good villains, his writing style is always way too ingrained in each character, the most threatening villain will make a bad joke or have to be unnecessarily snarky at times.

A lot of people would disagree though, myself included, hence Joss being seen as a genius.

@buttersdaman000: Whedon is a genius? And your arguments are Buffy, Firefly and Avengers? No, dude. Orson Welles, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Andrei Tarkovsky are geniuses. Whedon is not even close to that level.

.....I specifically said his MCU work doesn't compare.....and why are you comparing authors to Whedon?? Whedon is not an author.......

You're comparing apples and oranges....

You wouldn't judge an actor on a Directors scale, so why are you judging a screen writer/showrunner on an authors scale??? You can find it laughable all you want, but you haven't even begun to back your position. If it's just your opinion, then fine, but you're in a very small minority. And, FTR, no one believes he's a genius in the traditional sense. He's just very good at what he does...except in the MCU.

@buttersdaman000: wait, what? What are you talking about? Authors? As in book writers? Every single one of them are screen writersand directors, just like Joss is the director and head writer of most of hisprojects. Thus, I have every right to compare Whedon to them. And whad do you mean I haven't backed up my opinion? Their names alone speak more than a thousand words.

Look above, I already admitted my mistake. I was in class, replying on my phone, and immediately connected "Orson" with Enders Game before I replied. But, my point still stands about the usage of the word "genius" in this situation. And, furthermore, you wouldn't stop calling Steve Jobs a genius just because Einstein was one as well, right? Or you wouldn't call Kyrie Irving a decent player, just because MJ was a great one, would you? Joss can still be referred to as a "genius" just as much as Kubrick and the rest without hurting their reputation or even suggesting Joss is as good as them.

@rd189: Anything the MCU does will always get sh*t over stupid things, but if the DCCU does something stupid it's forgivable because *insert bias excuse here*

It's all the same cry baby bs that makes them question a whole movie based on one or two clips.
