Well it's simple really Thor's hammer has a wide variety of spells on it enabling any to pick it up but if one has thors characteristics any is a noble as thor they have been able to lift it superman is noble enough to lift it without question but the spells on it is a type of magic and magic is one of his weaknesses so that's my opinion whats yours?
Why superman can't left thors hammer
@sheenlantern: You are such a douche, you know that? It's funny as hell.
@sheenlantern: You are such a douche
I'm tempted to post the "Thanks Captain Obvious" picture again.
@sheenlantern: how isn't superman weak to magic?
@sheenlantern: how isn't superman weak to magic?
He's not weak to magic, he just has no natural resistance to it.
@the_last_kryptonian: point taken.
@sheenlantern: how isn't superman weak to magic?
Well he doesn't die when he's next to something magical.
It's clearly not as good as kryptonite but like that they said up there he's not weak to it he just can't resist it

Well yes. But that's completely different to what you originally said.
@davidford54: Thor's hammer doesn't say "If you are 'noble" you can lift it. It says if you are "worthy". Captain america has a weakness to magic but he can lift it. No definition is given of what "worthy"means.
@pooty: Pure of heart.
@ghostravage: Superman, Superman of all people isn't pure of heart?
Superman won't fall out in pain because someone's doing a magic trick. Superman is as durable to magic as someone with his lvl of durability would be. The man can get hit by magic lighting ,fire, magic blasts and etc and be just fine where as it would kill a human.
@sheenlantern: I didn't say Superman wasn't pure of heart...
@ghostravage: But we know Superman can't lift Mjolnir.
Worthy is the correct word and yes superman was worthy he has lifted it jla\avengers #4 but at the end of the comic he couldn't lift it and I was just trying to think why couldn't he?
@pooty: Pure of heart.
Where is that definition stated?
@sheenlantern: Well... Odin hates red speedos.
@pooty: In my mind. o.O'
@ghostravage: Superman, Superman of all people isn't pure of heart?
You need a warrior's heart. A warrior is willing to kill, Superman isn't. That's probably why.

Where does it say you need a Warriors heart?

It's implied by the type of people who have previously lifted it. Plus, a lot of fans have accepted that you'd need a warrior's heart to lift it, and since there's no official reason to be deemed worthy, that's the most I've got to go by.
Superman is willing to kill.
Of course he isn't.
Superman is willing to kill.

Yes he is he's killed what 3 times that I can remember Zod and he's 2 officers, Doomsday and I think he killed another version of Zod. It's not a go to option no but it is something he is willing to do as a last last resort.

Batman has killed more than that and you wouldn't say he's willing to kill.
@sheenlantern: Superman isn't weak to magic?... He has been made into a slave by Skeletor!
@lowlaville: Beg pardon?

Yes I would considering Batman pointed a gun a freaking gun at Darkseid with the intent of killing him.
OP is just trying to sneak in one last DC vs Marvel thread before the day ends (central time anyway)
@lowlaville: Beg pardon?
I remember 2 issues, one old one and a recent one, where a crossover was done and Superman got made a slave by Skeletor, and got his ass handed to him by He Man.

Honestly, I don't know why Supes can't lift the hammer. It's honestly never been written before, maybe he can. Big Boy Blue is on a basic level a naive little child who believes everyone can be good. And if f*cking Captain America can lift it...
And Hulk...
Then honestly Supes should be able to too. But it all comes down to the writer...
Superman's not weak to magic he's just vulnerable to it. In other words magic just works on him, he's not weak around magic like "owe magic"
@deathandgrim: Look closely at the scan. Hulk didn't lift Thor's hammer. Thor's hand is still holding Mjolnir. Hulk is lifting Thor's hand.
@pooty: which is holding what object... I'm assuming Laws of physics apply but whatever
And Captain America?
@pooty: which is holding what object... I'm assuming Laws of physics apply but whatever
And Captain America?
The whole point of magic is to go against the laws of physics. Cap is worthy for some unknown reason.
Wait... Who said he couldn't pick up his hammer?
Am I missing something?
In a crossover which both companies have accepted as canon. In the final fight against Krona, Superman was able to lift the hammer. But when the fight was over Superman couldn't lift the hammer. Thor said Supes was only able to lift it because he needed it to defeat Krona. That's PIS because you're either worthy or not. No exceptions
