Why is everyone so hard on TMNT 2014?

For me honestly i loved the movie feel free to disagree but please back up arguments.

Because it wasn't the original movie.

I enjoyed it.

My only gripe is that it should have focused more on the turtles and less on Megan Fox. Hopefully they fix that in the sequel.

I haven't seen the whole thing. But what I saw was terrible.

Because Michael Bay

Because no one asked for it, and Michael Bay is a plague.

cause the turtles looked so damn odd.

It wasn't as bad as I remember it being on the second viewing. But yeah, it fell short of the first, so I didn't care for it because of that.

I hate that movie it's another great childhood franchise that bay ruined.

Generic Blockbuster that is Generic as hell.

Face Jokes aside, it was kind of meh outside of a few aspects.

Michael Bay. People hate him, and even if he has little to do with the film, they'll hate the film just cause. Stupid, I know. But this is the internet.

This film is no more cheesy or lame than the original.

@skit: It does its a nice mix of both. I actually don't think many people would hate on the turtles if their faces weren't so much ugly.

Because people are drama queens on the internet mostly. Your childhood can't be retroactively ruined and its not even close to the worst version of TMNT. I'm a huge TMNT fan but its not like its ever been high art.

@guardiandevil83: The Next Mutation was pretty awful too. I tried on several occassions to watch it but never made it more than 10 minutes in.

@the_stegman: To be fair, the original released 25 years ago and in a time where stuff(especially kid films) still had the flavor of 80s. A bit of an improvement is to be expected. I do agree it gets over hated, though it's like it was a paradoxically great film by it's own merits.

Cause it's a terrible abomination with the same plot as Amazing Spider-Man, another terrible abomination.

@allstarsuperman: It wasn't that bad. Don't get me wrong it wasn't really a good movie but it wasn't even the worst movie that came out that year. It was pretty much an average action movie, admittedly there are some similarities with ASM but it wasn't the exact same plot, it just had pretty much the same ending.

I enjoyed it the first time I watched it, but then got weary of re-watching bc my cousins always play the movie...

It wasn't terrible but by no stretch was it good. I love the new IDW run of Turtles and after reading that run anything not similar just seems a waste of potential. Action was good but there are so many movies with good action scenes so nothing really stands out. Didn't like the turtles moving containers with their super strength to be honest.

Exactly. I can understand sentimental value but these movies are really no different from each other. I think people's main problem with the film comes from the fact that they went to watch a movie targeted at them, but it wasn't, it was aimed at kids, just like the originals. And in that sense they are still fun family movies, although they are a bit cheesy or lame.

I think because it was focused more on spectacle then character. The 1990 movie is superior in that regard.

While I enjoyed both films for what they were, If I could only ever watch one or the other, the original would easily be the one I'd pick.
