Why is Deathstroke's hair BLACK as a young man, when it's supposed to be BLONDE? We don't need ANOTHER Bruce Wayne copy.
Why in the Hell is Deathstroke's hair black?
Yeah, I realized right after I posted that you meant young Deathstroke; thought there was some situation where Deathstroke's hair had been retconned to black instead of white. My bad.
Still, I'm going with the Arrow thing.
He's young again.
you clearly didnt understand. he is saying that as a young man, slade has always had blonde hair. and now as a young man again, he has black hair.
@jedixman: That's probably the case. What a stupid change, though. As if there weren't already enough black-haired characters in the DCU. *smh*
His facial features aren't even sharp like they used to be anymore. Just a dull Bruce Wayne with facial stubble.
It's a default look for protagonists these days, unfortunately.
I agree. Slade had a more unique design. But, honestly, a lot of 80s comic book characters are unique. Look at the New Teen Titans run from the 80s and you'll see what I mean. All of the characters have interesting facial and costume designs (except for Dick). Perez does really good work.
Looks cooler with black hair, imo.
It's unoriginal.
@regiebravo: Yes, he looks much cooler as a Bruce Wayne copy. /sarcasm
I couldn't even tell this was Slade in this panel. *smh*
@darthmummy: My point exactly. Slade used to have a very distinct design. (Just look at the pictures of him as a blonde above.)
Big mistake on DC's part.
I swear I read these exact two replies weeks ago... deja vu
So you're getting mad because his hair color changed? I didn't know that his hair color played such an important role in his history.
It's suppose to look like Slade when his mask got smashed in the Teen Titans cartoon. You could see black hair showing out of it
Because black hairs are awesome ^_^
Being annoyed by inconsistent hair color is one thing, but getting tweaked about hair color not being the same as we've seen in flashbacks is just silly. Slade isn't a character anyone would associate with blonde hair. Not like they would Wally West and red or Oliver Queen and blonde. Everyone knows Slade has white hair. That's an integral part of his design, and is something that has even carried over to his teenage daughter. So, like, chill. Who cares that the de-aged Slade isn't blonde? You keep saying he looks like a Bruce Wayne rip-off, well the scans you posted with the blonde hair make him look like a Barry Allen rip-off. It's not a big deal, and there are only so many distinctions you can make between white characters with the same hair color.
@jaken7: he doesn't look like a barry allen rip-off as a young, blonde guy AT ALL. his features are sharper, his hairstyle is different, and he doesn't look as goofy.
... and i'll chill when his hair returns to being blonde/white (i wouldn't even mind if young slade had white hair like rose does). you can have your bland and unoriginal, black-haired slade in a fanfic or something, because i'm pretty sure this change will inevitably be reversed like most (the jason todd to red head reversal, for example).
@kramotz: ...yeah, because every single artist's rendition of Barry Allen resembles Manapul's design.
Oh no! Look at the sharp, angular features! The windswept blonde hair! The piercing blue eyes! Clearly a young Slade rip-off!
You see how this sort of complaint just doesn't work in the comics medium? Yes, New 52 de-aged Slade looks like Bruce Wayne. He also looks like Superboy, Tim Drake, Peter Stanchek, Jason Todd, Colin King, Hellion, etc. etc.
@jaken7: No, that absolutely does not look like young Slade. Though his demeanor is a bit more stern, he still looks goofy and doesn't possess Slade's trademark hairstyle at all.
You're just clenching at straws now. I said that young Slade looks like Bruce Wayne, not all of those other black-haired, blue-eyed men who he doesn't even remotely look like (save for Jason, kinda').
Your last point is moot. This instance does indeed warrant a complaint, as the change was pointless and detrimental to Slade's design. The artist who made this stupid change wasn't even able to give a legitimate reason as to why he made said change - "just decided go darker, was a good time to do it with the relaunch" (refer to the tweet above). Simply a pointless, godawful and unjustified change.
Probably so he could look more like the actor portraying him in "Arrow".
And just to throw my opinion out there, I also dislike the new young Slade's design. Just seems sort of generic.
You guys complain about deathstrokes hair change but you guys tell me to be quiet when i complain about aquamans hair change in the movies.
