Why don't Asgardians have a Nordic accent in the movies?
@war_killer: She barely used her accent in Earths Mightiest, yet noone complained.

True, and while it really isn't the biggest concern, I did like her Russian accent in the Ultimate Avengers animated movies.
For several reasons 1. A nordic accent only sounds reasonable if you happen to be speaking a Nordic language otherwise it sounds ridiculous. 2. They speak like Shakespearian characters in the comics a British accent is a fair compromise. 3. They aren't actually from a Nordic area.
The question of a proper Asgardian accent can't really be answered without knowing what their native language actually sounds like. Apart from the Ultimates, wherein he seemed to have at least lived in a Nordic country for a while, I don't follow Thor well enough to recall if he ever speaks anything other than English in the comics. But since all we hear from them is English in the movies, the odd, slightly unfamiliar sound we get from an Australian actor speaking with a vaguely North American accent in an exaggerated Shakespearian style ends up working pretty well for me.
@war_killer: Strange thing is I have yet to finish the first one. Lol
British accents are appealing to Americans and other groups. In a lot of movies about Rome, the actors have British accents.

Which is really freaking stupid. If anything they should have American accents.
@sheenlantern: Why would a movie about Rome or Asgard have american accents? To be honest though, americans are ignorant as hell, it's like "Hey these guys have swords and stuff..hmm didn't english guys carry swords? They all talk like that ole timey ish anyway!"

It's actually cause it's the easiest European accent to make. Why get a lower-tier actor who can do a Nordic accent over an Oscar nominee/award winning actor who can only do a British accent? And in Gladiator that was because Russell Crowe is British.
Because Asgardians are not nordic, they are beings from another realm. Nordic people believes/used to believe in them, but that doesn't make the Asgardians nordic.

Well why would they have English accents? The lesser of two evils historically is an American accent.

That doesn't even make sense
