if thats the case then should all characters be nerfed to make them more cooler/popular? since it seems to be working with a lot of street level characters, especially when a lot of people say they want believable, realistic characters that can relate to them.
why does it seem like most badass characters are street levelers?
In the bronze age, both Superman and Lois Lane knew kryptonian kung fu altho Superman still got beaten up by Faora. In the Smallville tv show last few seasons, Clark did do some kung fu and maybe he learned it from the computer at the Fortress.
Nope, its just that writers are reluctant to make superman fight like DBZ even though he should because of all the MA training from batman and other DC heroes
Because part of being a bad ass is being the underdog l. You can't be a over powered bad ass. You're never overcoming anything then. Only if you're beating up a bunch of over powered people can you pull off being a over powered bad ass (+)
Superman often has to battle other kryptonians like the phantom zone villains, evil gods from apokolips, martians, etc. so it is useful for Superman to know some kung fu. Maybe Clark is unemployed and can't afford kung fu lessons.

I think that depends heavily on your definition of bad ass.
This
Thor isn't street level but is considered badass by many.
And Superman does know martial arts, Probably a master at it from all those years among the League. It's just he probably uses it as a last resort.
