Why? It is just a little more abstract then most of the comic art people are used to. It is still a good drawing and I do not understand why it gets so much hate?
Why do people hate this so much?
Because it makes my limbs hurt just looking at it
Because, since when has Spider-man had rubber legs like mister Fantastic? Now if the panel would have been intended to be drawn as if it were viewed like distorted reflection it would be fine BUT it isn't. It just proves that Liefeld getting sacked, from even the company he was a partner in, was justified.
Besides the terrible art work and the complete lack of comic book aesthetic logic?
Because i am sexist!!!

I actually kinda like the distortion effect it has going on. If you look at the whole world as twisted, instead of just the characters' bodies rebelling against it, it's not so bad.
With that said, the awkward angles have me thinking that the artist didn't care if the scene followed its own rules, so maybe chaotic scribbles are the point...
It's nice to see artists break away from convention, but it's not easy to see the "motion" of the characters here, which is very important for an action-packed comic book, beside which the style is at odds with the lettering, and does not jive with the painfully banal Spider-man cold open.
*Waitaminute, if I'm interpreting the image correctly, the left side of the panel does not match its reflection in the building on the right, which should not have happened regardless of the shape of the reflective surface. What sort of alternate universe shenanigans are going on here?

That art is actually by a guy named Eric Canete. It's the same comic these scans come from, so the issue's not all bad.

Lol
Because comic book fans (especially superhero comic book fans) can be extremely judgmental when it comes to unconventional art. I'm reminded of these Rob Guillory tweets.
@thenaughtytitan: if the desired effect was to look like the scene is taking place at a very fast pace i like it , otherwise ewww
There is also the complete and total lack of comic book sense.
It would work as art only, but not to tell and Spiderman story.
Thats why it looks less weird with Deadpool.
But again maybe its the fact b1tch3s love Deadpool.
But again my sexism could get in the way of my opinions.
@battle_forum_junkie: I could have sworn it was Leifelds... It's certainly ugly and disproportioned enough though that spider-man did have only the usual amount of mucle groups instead of 7-8 biceps.

Yeah, I really don't care for either artist, personally. I get that they each have their own style, but it ends up just looking really sloppy.
Seriously? Some people don't have a problem with this? One eye is totally bigger than the other. So sloppy.

The eye is meant to be like that to add to go with the general theme of the drawing, it is cartoon like. You are acting like an art critic but your comment shows you do not know what you are talking about. Proportion is not required in this type of art style and the eye adds to his desired cartoon like effect.

Pfft. I know a pair of eyes when I sees them, and that ain't no proper pair of eyes. It's a disgrace!
I think that we get that it's supposed to be asymmetrical and disproportioned. There's just something else off about it. Almost as if, there is no method to the madness. Some things come off as mistakes...when they shouldn't.

"shakes head"
Because it makes my limbs hurt just looking at it
@thenaughtytitan: "crosses eyes" (proportionally correct ones! :P)
