Why did you like Breaking Bad?

I want to know what made the show your favorite? What hooked you? I'm on season 3. Season 2 was my favorite. I heard this show was the most intense thing ever, so far I don't see it. All I know is that when it gets good it gets great, other than that... What do you think?

I haven't watched Breaking Bad, so I can't say.

Its just the story of a man finding out he has cancer and then trying to do anything so that when he is gone his family wont have to need anything, until he gets to deep into being heisenburg and find thats what he truly loves doing because he is the best at it. Plus its a very dark comedy and the story is pitch perfect.

It just is. That's as detailed as it gets.

i tried watching it but it aint my cup of tea. i aint knocking it heck they won all those awards so congrats to them. me i like sons of anarchy more because theres a emotional component to it if people look past the violence. people ask me all the time who my favorite charachter is on that show and i reply with i like them all because there written in a way where i cant say i favor one over the other. its a mix of shakespear and a western and sorpranos with motor cycle gangs

After you watch the whole show, then you will understand why it's the best thing ever. It is not for everyone though, no show is for everyone.

@madeinbangladesh: When it gets good its amazing though like I just finished the season 3 finale and season 4 premiere and it was crazy.

There's so much creativity and brilliance behind the directing and the world they're in, but what truly makes it stand out is the acting and the writing.

It is one of the greatest shows ever created. It has a great protagonist, great supporting characters, a perfect blend of action, humor, drama and intensity. Great antagonists, a phenomenal plot, and almost no major flaws or weak points. The show is about as close to perfection as a show can be, and that's not even an exaggeration. It's why I say, I usually respect opinions, but if you don't like Breaking Bad, you're wrong.

I love the characters of Jesse Pinkman and Walter White. One is a story of a fall from grace and one is a story of redemption. That and there are major consequences to character's actions. The show has barely any flaws, and has an incredibly satisfying conclusion unlike 90 percent of television shows.

I didn't get into it till it's 3rd season. My brother and my mom would not shut the hell up about it. The first three seasons were on Netflix so I figured what the hell you know. I think it only took two or three episodes to hook me and I blew through the first three seasons in about a week.

The short answer here is Walt's character development. Just brilliantly written.

It's gets better and better as the show goes on even though I loved it from the beginning.

The acting and the writing stood out to me the most. I was taking an acting class which led me to become a bit more critical of movies, but this show still blew me away. A lot of modern shows use a lot of cuts and dialogues are often cut and pasted together after so many takes. Breaking Bad, on the other hand, had a lot of scenes where a character delivers an emotionally-driven monologue in one single shot. Not a lot of Hollywood actors are capable of doing that nowadays. As for the script, there's just so many quotable scenes throughout all 5 seasons.

hahah. I saw couple of people who didn't like the show. Matter of fact, in one of the comicvine tournaments, Man of Steel beat Breaking Bad. I HAD to Facepalm at that.

I'd never considered realism as the source of what makes a movie or TV show good... Until Breaking Bad. It took me until S2 to get hooked, but after that I was locked in. I've watched shows from The Shield to The Walking Dead to Sons of Anarchy, but I've never been as engaged with those stories and characters as I was with BB.

Oh but the one exception I do have is Vic Mackey. Hank was a complete rip-off of Vic...

Not a bad show, but not even in the top ten list of the best shows ever.

I liked the series because it was based on my life.

Phenomenal acting, unpredictable writing, brilliant direction, beautiful cinematography.

There was not one bad episode.

Changed my mind season 4 was my favorite. Then 3. Then 5. Then 2 and 1.

My reasons:

1. Great cinematography, the open Arizona spaces, the locales.

2. The villains, they are also flawed beings who in their own minds are just trying to live the American dream in their own warped ways.

3. The Latin oriented characters were done so well, I'm Latin American so I can appreciate the good Spanish these actors spoke, specifically Gus, who obviously wasn't a regular Spanish speaking actor. Even Walter spoke Spanish at times lol, in his own white guy way.

4. The show was just unique and compelling although depressing at times.

5. The irony in it all. These characters were swimming in millions of dollars yet they could never really enjoy the riches.

Deadwood, The Wire, The Sopranos (and just about every other show on HBO).

Because it's perfect. I don't envy you in trying to avoid spoilers, though.

This guy just doesn't want to admit he likes something mainstream.
