I mean, it's obviously pretty awesome, but I've seen people watching the Civil War trailer with tears of joy in their eyes. WTF???
Why are black people so excited for Black Panther movie?
OP are you white?
White people are everywhere in TV and movies.
Also the guy who directed Fruitvale Station and Creed is directing it.
So I'm pumped why do you care that people are happy...
@never_give_up: I don't care that people are happy. I mean, it's a good thing after all. But it just seems strange to see people cry for a movie. After all there were a lot of movies with black heroes like the Blade trilogy, the MIB trilogy, Spawn, Django Unchained, Code Genesis, the animated series of Static Shock, Hancock etc etc
Because misrepresentation and all that crap. I'm half black but could care less tbh, I just wanna see decent stories and better characters.
@juzacloud: Does it matter? He's an alien. Race shouldn't matter if skin deep for you to enjoy the established character. Why isn't Darkseid a human. Why isn't Wonder Woman a Chinese chick. Why is Dormammu a hellish energy demon instead of looking like Obama. Who cares though you know?
@juzacloud: Why is Dormammu a hellish energy demon instead of looking like Obama.
I'll have you know he does in fact look like Obama. His face is just covered up by all that mystical demon fire energy.
@juzacloud: I guess because his creators were white and the majority o America was white too.
@nerevarine_11: why are you asking me if it matters? I didn't make this thread. Im responding to it.
Race means everything in America. You can act like it doesn't though. But that's a whole other topic that won't bare any fruit through internet debating.
hmmm I wonder where the excitement is for john stewart, static, steel, mr terrific, martian manhunter, icon...........?
@juzacloud: Race doesn't mean everything unless we enable it too. And this is about comics which extends to all avenues. Pretty sure that was established.

Why aren't you excited for Black Panther?
That's an even better question. Hopefully, he doesn't see him as boring that's only dedicated for Superman for certain users.
I can't wait for the battle forums when the Black Panther movie comes out.
Just know that you are always wrong!
Why ask the question when you already know the answer? And why does it matter anyway? People are really happy. What's wrong with that?

Have we meet before...
The Black Community is excited for Black Panther because we finally have a Black SuperHero in the Ranks among other Caucasian heroes. I'm Excited I have a friend who's stoked about this so I mean why not be excited.
@masterkungfu: you must not be looking harder enough, because there's a lot of hype for those characters except for icon.
Haven't seen anybody excited for BP movie or anybody that knows who he is actually. But if you have seen these "black" people excited for him to be on the big screen then it should be common sense why. He looks similar to them.
As for race. Why am I not surprised youknowwho is on the thread. Aka MrIHateDiversityinComics. Race is a big deal because America was founded and created via racism. It was deeply incorporated into all aspects of life here including comics, and now some companies are trying to change that*marvel*and some are still pandering to their 1950s crowd *DC*
@nite_nite: Wait.....Wut?!
Because we finally have a superhero representing us. I'm african and it's nice to see.
@never_give_up: Does he have super powers?
@jasonhawke: It's exactly what I'm saying. People say BP will be the first black superhero on the silver screen, nobody remember the Blade trilogy (ok, the third was horrible, but the first and the second were pretty good)
@nite_nite: I don't think DC is to blame now, at least they've given us a Cyborg ongoing
It's great to see a bro, who played a key role in saving the marvel multiverse, get his own movie and recognition!!
Everyone should be excited to anticipate what should be, at very least a decent marvel movie...as I'm sure everyone regardless of race were pretty excited to see Captain America previews...
IMO
