Who should be Cyborg girlfriend?
@dbvse7: What's the problem with Cyborg dating a black girl? how many black couples have you seen in comics, tv series and cartoons? Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, Mr Terrific and Power Girl, Iron Fist and Misty Knight, Nico Minoru and Alex Wilder, Barry and Iris in The Flash, John Stewart and Hawkgirl in JLU.
@justthatkid: It helps though *shrugs*
@justthatkid: most girls would heavily disagree
Thank goodness, they've been building him up with a GF already in Sara Charles, a fellow scientist.
They should bring her back in the new ongoing, and have her play a huge role.
Not a black girl.. hate that stereotypical black guy has to be with a black girl bs.
I don't want to start an argument, but I just want to say some things. In fiction, especially in the comics realm there haven't been too many relationships for black women compared to any other demographic, and less for black women being with black men. The only major Black and Black relationship in comics history has been Black Panther and Storm, and they divorced. It kind of sends the wrong message especially for black girls, thinking that black men are not interested in them (I'm talking across all media).
But yeah. Anyone would be cool for Cyborg, as long as she has a good role in his life and a lot to say for her own self.
Cyborg sucks.

I don't think any of those three would be the best choices for him. There was this woman that Pre 52 Cyborg met through his work with disabled kids that have prosthetics IIRC that would've been a nice choice.
Lol @ the black woman and man relationship when a black man and white woman relationship is an even bigger (and most often negative) stereotype.
@blackwind: To be fair, Rocket and Bumblebee don't exist yet in the new 52. I'm also pretty sure that Rocket was legal pre52 so I don't know where the too young part comes from. Anyway, I thought they were setting up Sarah Charles to be his love interest.
@undefined: jinx. ..for no particular reason o_0
@yung_ancient_one: Very funny...
He could always make one? I kid.
I wouldnt say he shouldn't have a girlfriend cause connections are what help keep humanity and Cyborg should keep his theme of acceptance of himself. Race shouldn't matter either black, white, Latino, asian in comics as long as they dont make him gay. :O :P
@rpgesus you don't need a penis to have a girlfriend silly.
Well race mattered according to Wolfman. Marv Wolfman had a chance to ship Vic Stone and Sarah Simms, but unfortunately he admitted that he did not want to go that route, because being an African American is part of the core concept of his creation. If Vic was ever white, they would have been in an romantic intimate relationship. So he disagreed with strengthening their relationship, because there's been lots of interracial relationships. And yes, he said this.
Cyborg's mutilated body in Secret Origins is less tragic, so some of that has been retconned, including the possibility of his genitals being non-existent.

You would have a point if there were just as much (or nearly) active black women in capes as white women in DC. So of course there's going to be a higher chance of black men shipping with white women in the comic industry.

Sarah Simms is who you're thinking of.
@juiceboks: It's just kind of sad that a writer declined shipping them two, because he doesn't want to look beyond Vic's skin color. And race doesn't really suppose to define the core characteristics of said character generally speaking, but he looked at it from that perspective. It's true that there's lots of interracial relationships as he stated, so he looked at it as an ongoing stereotype if he matched both of them, but I don't think he should have looked at it from that type of viewpoint.
@avenging_x_bolt: Raquel was fifteen when she met Icon. And the Milestone line didn't continue for that long. Also she's a teen mother. Dating is hardly in her plans.
She seemed like an adult in the JLA crossover during Mcduffie's run, so I was confused either way she doesn't exist anymore so she can easily be rebooted closer to Vic's age.
This shit actually had me create a account.
You MFs on here talking bout "stereotyped black relationships in comics". AIN'T NO Black relationships in comics. Here I am, thinking a couple days ago how Luke cage go with a white woman, random cop in aquaman (she white) married to a black cop, who just loves her so much and does deeds for her. Had me thinking damn I don't like Luke cage too much after that and wtf I never a black couple in comics. Now it's ppl on here with the "how dare they?!" mindset that someone suggest or have the thought of cyborg dating a woman of the same heritage. Having the audacity to say it doesn't have to be about background, when majority of the white heroes in comics date white women or aliens that are pretty much white women. But ironically the same ppl mad that Johnny storm is portrayed by a "black" actor in this upcoming movie.
@justthatkid: Demolition Man is what your thinking of.
How bout he just dates an alien. Has it ever been confirmed his genitals are gone ?

Welcome to ComicVine.
And I mean that in the condescending way towards comic fans,
@nite_nite: Relax man :-(
@mysoulz: Too bad, Babs would be great love interrest plus both could support each other.
Anyone who thinks Cyborg shouldn't have a girlfriend is a loser.
