I would probably be called a hipster, and you're right. I generally dislike Batman, because he's so unbelievably overblown. Love the movies, but I don't go near the comics. I like my obscure X-Men spinoff teams >.>

Every character gets overblown by fanboys. You should judge them based on the complexity of their character and their mythos, not what some loser fanboys do. I never understand the people who say that they dislike Batman because of fanboys. That logic is stupider than fanboyism itself.

I like both Batman and Superman and I have several friends who like both. @lvenger is the biggest Superman fan I know, and he loves Batman. I don't understand why Superman and Batman fans have to play a choosing game between the two because they are both awesome.

The same hipsters have seen bits and pieces of Christopher Reeve's superman movies and then automatically jump on the "He's to perfect, overpowered, lame and boring bandwagon."

I really think people here don't get the difference between being well known and popular. Popularity to me is who gets the most hype, and who is "in". Superman doesn't top that definition for me. In my opinion, the most popular superheroes are

2. Iron Man

3. Spider-Man

4. Superman

5. Wolverine

I didn't like Ironman until RDJ played him. And I still don't read his comics. I have ALWAYS liked / loved Superman / Batman / Spiderman

Um, who cares? You're one experience doesn't determine what is going on with everyone else. Is Superman still one of the 5 most popular heroes? Yes, and he most likely always be. Is he THE most popular hero right now? Hell no. You just need to chill out.

I didn't say he was the most popular. That is probably Batman. But he is more popular than Ironman - which is what I said.

Everything after that is debatable. IMO while she isn't among those four in worldwide popularity WW is probably 3rd or 4th in terms of being known

There is no real answer to this question! There is an audience for every hero! Viner's can argue up and down til they are blue and black who the greatest hero is and why! At the end of the day it doesn't matter. What matter's is that we enjoy our hero's for whatever intent and purpose.
