you thought Batman was more Willpower then Hal Jordan, yeah I went there. lol. but seriously all hipsters or even wanna be hipsters automatically love Batman and that makes them think that they have to hate Superman.

Batman

Superman

Spider-Man

For now and the foreseeable future. Although PURELY in terms of popularity, Iron Man may be jumping up there.

I would probably be called a hipster, and you're right. I generally dislike Batman, because he's so unbelievably overblown. Love the movies, but I don't go near the comics. I like my obscure X-Men spinoff teams >.>

Every character gets overblown by fanboys. You should judge them based on the complexity of their character and their mythos, not what some loser fanboys do. I never understand the people who say that they dislike Batman because of fanboys. That logic is stupider than fanboyism itself.

I like both Batman and Superman and I have several friends who like both. @lvenger is the biggest Superman fan I know, and he loves Batman. I don't understand why Superman and Batman fans have to play a choosing game between the two because they are both awesome.

@havenless: @wolverine08: truth is I'm talking more about non comic reader then comic readers I think. like the Hipsters who watched TDK twice and TDKR once and now love batman. The same hipsters have seen bits and pieces of Christopher Reeve's superman movies and then automatically jump on the "He's to perfect, overpowered, lame and boring bandwagon."

I really think people here don't get the difference between being well known and popular. Popularity to me is who gets the most hype, and who is "in". Superman doesn't top that definition for me. In my opinion, the most popular superheroes are

1. Batman

2. Iron Man

3. Spider-Man

4. Superman

5. Wolverine

@allstarsuperman:

I see what you're saying, but I'm just letting you know most well informed comic fans like both Superman and Batman, and don't stereotype either.

#23 Posted by AllStarSuperman (21850 posts) - - Show Bio

@wolverine08: don't get me wrong I like Batman, but I hate Batgod theres a big difference.

@wolverine08: Just because he's had good movies lately doesn't put Ironman in the top 5. he isn't even close.

My mother doesn't know who Ironman is. Shes knows who Superman, Batman and Spiderman are. (She even liked TASM and she hates CBM's!)

Its those 3 and then everyone else. And its not really close.

@wolverine08: yeah, im talking the average movie going hipster. that's why Batman has like 100 billion likes on facebook, but Superman was like 150 thousand tops.

#26 Posted by Wolverine08 (42201 posts) - - Show Bio

@fallschirmjager:

I disagree. Superman is still the most well know here out there definitely, but I find it laughable people still think he's the most popular.

I agree, ironman and wolverine may be the big deal lately, but they don't have the iconicness of the big 3.

That's what I mean. There is a difference between being iconic and being popular IMO.

Batman

Superman

Spider-man

Iron Man

Wolverine

Storm

exactly. more kids may be ironman on Halloween but Superman is till way more Iconic.

@wolverine08: I find it laughable you think he's not popular. He is the FIRST Superhero. I've yet to find someone who genuinely doesn't like Superman for a reason other than just trying to be different.

I didn't like Ironman until RDJ played him. And I still don't read his comics. I have ALWAYS liked / loved Superman / Batman / Spiderman

Um, who cares? You're one experience doesn't determine what is going on with everyone else. Is Superman still one of the 5 most popular heroes? Yes, and he most likely always be. Is he THE most popular hero right now? Hell no. You just need to chill out.

#33 Edited by Fallschirmjager (17457 posts) - - Show Bio

@wolverine08: Who's not chill?

I didn't say he was the most popular. That is probably Batman. But he is more popular than Ironman - which is what I said.

And your one experience doesn't determine everyone's else either. You're no more qualified to speak for the rest of the world than I am. Two can play this game.

Are talking popularity among every form of media? If so

Batman

Superman

Iron Man

Spider-Man

Everything after that is debatable. IMO while she isn't among those four in worldwide popularity WW is probably 3rd or 4th in terms of being known

#35 Edited by Wolverine08 (42201 posts) - - Show Bio

@fallschirmjager:

You aren't chill, and like I said I don't care or need to know if you read Iron Man comics before everyone jumped onto the RDJ bandwagon. It's inconsequential to the conversation. And guess what? Who is all more popular is just our opinion at the end of the day unless we get statistics. So I wouldn't get so worked up about theoretical stuff.

#36 Posted by Fallschirmjager (17457 posts) - - Show Bio

@wolverine08: Just because someone types in caps to emphasize something doesn't mean they're not chill. Stop being so touchy.

Got 3 answers so far.

-Thor

-Punisher

-Doesn't like any hero

...they're clearly not helping

@emp3rord4v1d:

There is no real answer to this question! There is an audience for every hero! Viner's can argue up and down til they are blue and black who the greatest hero is and why! At the end of the day it doesn't matter. What matter's is that we enjoy our hero's for whatever intent and purpose.
