Who's Goku?

(JK - It'd be impossible to not know who Goku is based on the billions of Goku vs. Superman threads), but the answer is obviously Superman.

#22 Edited by Wardemon32 (4152 posts) - - Show Bio

Superman ofcourse

you can look up the ratings for each show going back decades.....using this you can identify that at no point in time, has Dragon BallZ been the number 1 viewed anime show in the USA or in Japan, there are younger animes that are more iconic than Goku...so we are trying to pit an anime which often doesn't even hit the top 50 list of animes, against a character that is recognizable in places where they have no tvs.

you can tell your friend to button his lip before making such grandiose and unfounded claims, (and go watch some more iconic animes like gundam, evengelion or even Ghost in the Shell.

@dundgeonrocket:

Superman is iconic in the real world.

A closer matchup would be Sailor Moon and Superman and even then Superman would still come out on top

#29 Posted by Twentyfive (2845 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't think Goku can be as iconic as Superman, seeing as he is partially based on Superman, as well as the Chinese character Sun Wukong.

That wouldn't be any closer.

No. Anime is not popular outside of Japan.

Superman is World icon. And he's also older than any anime character by a large margin

no anime character compares.

Superman is more iconic in comics, whereas Goku is more iconic in anime/manga.

Superman's been around since like the 30's..He was one of the "first" super heroes too. Superman takes this by a land slide

#50 Posted by Juiceboks (9246 posts) - - Show Bio

@gordyman @havenless @fallschirmjager I was implying that Sailor Moon is more iconic than Goku. She's the icon for the magical girl genre and can be argued that had a greater worldwide impact than Dragon Ball Z. She'd be a closer matchup than Goku. Not saying she would win(in fact I said the exact opposite), but it would be closer.
