Who is marvels most powerful villain this includes all the cosmics

#2 Posted by Guardiandevil83 (5603 posts) - - Show Bio

Villian? I wanna say Surtur or the Serpent (Potentially). I never counted Thanos as a Villian but someone just trying to impress a girl he liked. He would be up there though, and theres also Doctor Doom who has constantly shown he is one of if not the most dangerous man on planet earth. Maybe the Molecule Man. Seems like the entity known as the Phoenix is the new flavor of the month however.

Thanos is a great villain because his modivations are more than, Must smash destroy all. At times that may be part of it but he is verry complex and has lots of staying power. true he has morphed more into a cosmic anti hero as of later but im sure there will be a series of galexcy cracking antics for the mad titan in the future.

Galactus the most powerful but Dr. Doom has a country, doombots, intelligence, resources and a motivation to kill Mr. Fantastic what else could you want from a villain

#11 Posted by *Void* (874 posts) - - Show Bio

I wouldnt class Galactus as a villain anymore than I would class Death as one (seeing that she is the cause of the majority of Thanos' antics)

In my mind the greatest villain would have to be either Dr.Doom or Dormammu

#12 Posted by torzone (415 posts) - - Show Bio

1. DARK PHOENIX!

2. Galactus

3. Thanos

3. Magneto

4. Dr. Doom

Galactus isn't really a villian.

Read the title people, it's not about the greatest or the best villain, it's about their power level, and Thanos and Galactus are not villains nowadays

#17 Posted by Yai_Inn (352 posts) - - Show Bio

Some others not yet mentioned but all fairly powerful: Abraxas, Korvac, Shuma-Gorath, Lord Chaos, Uni-Lord, Nightmare, Mephisto, Chthon. I realize some of these may not be considered villain.

#18 Edited by SirMethos (1330 posts) - - Show Bio

Hmm... There are several villains that haven't been mentioned at all, despite being definite contenders.

It depends on a few things though. Are various items/artifacts included? Which versions of the villains(current, or most powerful)? Is it only current villains that count, or do villains that haven't been seen in a long time, count as well?

Sise-Neg, is a pretty good contender for the title.

Mikaboshi as the Chaos King, is another good contender.

Zom, Abraxas, Magus and Onslaught(at his most powerful) are all good contenders as well.

Shuma Gorath, is another good contender.

I'll stop for now, I could keep going for a while :P But all of these, are far beyond people like Thanos, in terms of raw power(comparing thanos to them, would be like comparing amoeba to thanos, and that's being nice)

That's easy.

The Vulture, Toad oh and, um, Batroc.

Thanos with prep time. because he has a lot of knowledge, making him almost omniscience. with near omniscience ability, he was able to get his hand on powerful toys like the infinity gauntlet or the heart of infinite which delivered the living tribunal's 1st and only defeat.

so yah the record stands, thanos was the only villian who defeated the 2nd most powerful character in marvel

Nah, Cyke isn't a villain at all. In opposite to Logan or Cap America for example.

Galactus isn't really a villian.

He has killed more innocent lives than almost anyone else in the Marvel universe. Villain or not, He is still an antagonist.

#42 Edited by Masterr (194 posts) - - Show Bio

Does this include cosmic entities?

Although Doom and Thanos are powerful, they definitely do not contend with the likes of others, such as Shuma-Gorath, Mephisto (if he is considered a villain), Amatsu-Mikaboshi etc.

Chthon for me perhaps.

Unless we are counting the Crimson Cosmos, then it would have to be Cyttorak.....lol, not really.

#46 Posted by Malonius (886 posts) - - Show Bio

Thanos w/ Infinity Gauntlet. He killed half the universe to try and impress a girl and he beat down a bunch of Cosmics in the process. He had no regard for the suffering he inflicted on others in order to try and sake his selfish desires...that's almost the definition of villianny.

I don't think you can count any of the Cosmics as villians. They are more like personified forces of nature which are sometimes antagonistic to human interests. If an entity is immortal, self-creating itself, and bound to act according to its purpose in the cosmic design...then you can't really describe it as evil.

To be evil you must have a choice and you must have limitations. The sky father level beings are on the border where in some ways where they're locked into their roles (e.g. Surtur in the Ragnarok cycle) yet it seems necessary to fight them. In a sense, the heroes have the burden of carrying out a cosmic function, but do they even have a real choice in the matter? If it's cosmically necessary to get rid of the Serpent in order to maintain the transdimensional balance then perhaps the multiverse itself is propelling the heroes into their oppositional roles.

Evil comes when a sub-skyfather level being aquires or uses power unjustly. If a mortal person uses power beyond their limited comprehension to achieve a limited selfish impulse they are committing an act of evil. Dr. Doom and Thanos are both guilty of this hubris, but Thanos has caused the most sufferring.

Somebody like Sentry or the Scarlet Witch are swimming in powers they don't fully comprehend and because they try to control it, it contributes to their insanity and causes terrifying results. You would still call them antagonists though, not villians. Like a little kid who finds the key to the gun safe and accidentally shoots someone. It's part of the tragedy that's allowed to exist in this universe, but it's hard to assign evil in such a case.

Magneto is an interesting case because he might be right, but do the ends justify the means. That's a whole argument about terrorist tactics that I don't feel like getting into now.

Galactus isn't really a villain. He just feeds on planets because it is his necessity to survive. Also, Eternity said that Galactus is important in the universe to create a balance. Without him, Abraxas would come and you know what's gonna happen next...

For Marvel's most powerful villains...

  1. Shuma Gorath
  2. Mad Jim Jaspers
  3. Serpent
#50 Posted by czarny_samael666 (17174 posts) - - Show Bio

Shuma Gorath, Chaos King, Abraxas, possibly Insane Genis-Vell.
