actually I think the Silver Surfer is faster in terms of simply Traveling Speed...

Wally has travelled faster than the speed of light. I don't know anything about Silver Surfer though.

Flash is faster then the Surfer. Speed of Light isn't that big a deal to the strongest flashes.

Travel speed Surfer easily.

Surfer scouts out new planets all across the universe for Galactus to eat, that means he can almost certainly go thousands of times faster than even most space opera sci-fi like star wars, and Star Wars ships can go hundreds of thousands of times the speed of light.

In terms of reaction time probably flash, but only slightly.

Flash, the Speed Force allows for effectively infinite levels of speed. Even then, the Surfer is only travel-speed fast. On reaction time, Wally destroys him.

Edit: I say Wally, because to me, he is the Flash.

I believe Silver Surfer transcends time and space.SS is faster for that reason alone.

Surfer may be able to enter hyperspace at his fastest but flash has broken the reality barrier so they are atleast close with flash still being faster.

I know Flash is fast. His speed feats are simply impossibly amazing, but Surfer just seems even more so. I remember reading a couple of old Silver Surfer comics and the panel feats were just sick. One line that comes to mind is "seconds later, lightyears away." That was crazy. Another, they did an on panel measurement of how fast Surfer reacted and traveled from some explosion. It was like 0.001 seconds, 0.002, so on and so forth. I'm too lazy to look up the scan right now, but it was cool.

I know that Wally can steal speed and push himself faster, but couldn't the Surfer absorb more cosmic energy and funnel it into any of his abilities there by accomplishing the same thing? I'd say it's a tie in the speed department.

its kind of a weird comparison because the flash is ridiculus running speed fast and the surfer cruises on a board through space and sometimes teleports and i dont know too much about flash but i doubt he can run through space.he'd be like the golden runner if he could

Flash he has an unlimited potential of speed Surfer does not. Flash could simply steal all of Surfer's speed

Just wondering why people bringing up Flash STEALING Surfer's speed??

The question was who is faster..... as in who has shown feats of faster speed.... Flash stealing Surfer's speed has nothing to do with the question.

Flash. I doubt Surfer could evacuate an entire city about to be bombed in .000000001 second.

Now, if this was someone like Jay Garrick, it would be a whole different story....

In just the measurement of motion uncertain. I would think since Flash's thing is speed he would have more numerous examples/feats and logically have the higher showing. Though neither is actually supposed to have any kind of upper limit, so it's hard to make a call, or if one even can be (see: infinite has no above). Outside those terms, Surfer has been shown to be able to stop time/motion for those other than himself, as well as depower others by for example alteration of their genetic make-up, or by averting their mind, ect. So he could win a race easily if he wanted to and wasn't really playing fair, something he's known to be subjective about as it is. You can't beat me in a race if you can't move.

Put the hyperspace aside, and take the mainstream heroes, Barry Allen and Silver Surfer.

Silver Surfer goes as fast as the speed of light, but the Flash, Barry Allen can go faster with the power of the speed force.

This doesn't count here, but The Flash wouldn't be able to outrun Surfer in a world without the speed force.

Silver Surfer. And if Flash tries to get faster, Surfer will just use the power cosmic to do whatever he needs to. Surfer wins at everything.

I think the only way the Flash is faster than the Surfer is with running speed. Period. With his board, the Surfer can fly at multiple speeds of light, warp speeds. What people miss is that this mean several things regarding the Surfer: 1) He can see for light years ahead of himself. He would have to in order not to run into things while traveling many times the speed of light. 2) Also, his reflexes would have to also be greater than light speeds so as not to run into objects (you'd be surprised how much smaller a football field is to very fast player, a running back for example, vs an offensive lineman...). 3) Finally, his thinking would be greatly accelerated so that he could react at these speeds. The Flash is a faster runner, yes. But when it comes to flight, reaction time (reflexes) and thinking, the Flash is outclassed by the Surfer.
