This question is completely subjective. The answer just depends on your personal taste.

So, yeah... DC's are better. ;)

If I take a look at the number of characters I actively read from both companies, it would appear as if I prefer DC characters. The truth is, though, that I couldn't care less which company I buy comic books from; it all boils down to the character and the book. Just because I buy more DC books than Marvel doesn't mean I like Captain America (one of my favorite Marvel characters) any less than the DC characters I read.

DC.

I think, I say I think, choosing my verb wisely, that Marvel's characters have more depth, but DC has a couple of characters that you can't find into the other universe. The Bat family for example! I don't know if you can find such a depth in another mainstream comic. Just saying...

Actually, even Thor is a good example. Compare Superman to Thor, I would never try to follow the moral code that Superman has, it just seems boring and a waste of time. Thor on the other hand goes to parties, drinks a lot, has lots of sex, and then arrogantly goes to battle when people need to be saved, which is exactly what I (and I assume most other people) would do.

Maybe I exaggerated with Thor a little bit, haha, Hercules would have been a better example. But my behavior would be closer to Thor's than Superman's, if I had god-like powers. And if you compare the popular Marvel characters to DC's, then you'll see a similar pattern.

And to be clear, I'm only talking about character behavior. Of course superpowers are ridiculous, no matter how you obtained them. But DC characters live up to these ideals that no normal person would try to do. Marvel shows how normal people would respond to getting superpowers; which to me is more interesting.

Going through problems has nothing to do with behaving like a normal person. What would you do if you were a genius, your parents died, and you inherited a billion dollar empire? Would you behave more like Batman or Iron Man?

I wouldn't blow my money off like Iron Man did, I probably would feel lonely, and more focused on getting revenge.

DC has some characters that remind me of marvel's style. For example Superboy is a character that reminds me a lot of marvel.

Where as marvel has soem characters like Captain America who remind me of DC.

Personally though i am going to have to give it to marvel on interesting character.

Depends how you prioritize what's interesting. Reading though this thread you see people apply the term differently, some can't even understand the context of how others apply the word. For me personally, this is like asking which is the most interesting color. Well depends. A few of them are pretty interesting, and both Marvel and DC have like... 5000 plus characters. Sure if a person went though a bunch of them, they'd probably end up with a similar number.

Good point but by characters I think characters you would normally see. For example all the characters in Marvel: Civil War are basically the bulk of good characters in Marvel.

That too is a great point, and speaks about a fans discretion. Like I love a lot of the obscure Marvel and DC characters in books like Exiles, and so on. Many of my favorite DC characters are Vertigo characters who relied in short but great stories, rather than decades of great stories. *smile*

Yeah, Marvel is more straight forward, Most of their characters and teams have been made by Stan Lee, & his vision, unlike DC where there's just a bunch of different writers who write their own stories then come together.

Each company has their indepth characters. Hawkeye for one for me is very facinating, I enjoy reading about him and his recent concussion which almost blinded him. But the characters change so much from writer to writer. I am reading X-Factor by Peter David and each character in that book has more depth to it than the entire roster of the Avengers during its history. Wolverine has depth, but he's so over used. While Deadpool is so overused, but I feel has no depth to him

As for DC- The Bat Family speaks volumes. Nightwing and Batman both have some major upgrades to them, as well as some new characters to build around. This new changes add volume to the characters as a whole and I like that. I am reading a good portion of the New 52 and I am absolutely loving the recreation of some of the more beloved characters. Especially Justice League and Teen Titans. Yes I would say that Green Lantern has depth, but I am not a fan of the new direction with Sinestro. Oh and Aquaman- the man is just brimming with depth- no pun intended.

Marvel because the characters are much more different from each other.

DC has a superfamily including a dog, a Bat family, an amazon family, too many hawkpeople, too many green lantern, different flash individual, characters seem to have more black hair and cape, etc.

DCs characters are a bit sillier but they are more iconic. Wolverine is "cooler" than Superman, but Superman's "S" is up there with Mom, baseball, and apple pie. If you saw a Bald Eagle with a Superman "S" on it's chest, it would seem appropriate.

this isn't necessarily a flaw though, the reason Dc has a lot of copies of one another is because they focus more on legacy heroes, people who share common affiliations and pass down titles from generation to generation, as a matter of fact, that's one thing i like more about Dc than Marvel, marvel feels like a bunch of random people getting random powers due to random accidents, Dc's heroes seem less like a team of heroes, and more like family

What's your point? That Civil War, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Siege and Fear Itself weren't progressively worse exercises in bullshit? Here's a tip, why don't you actually read the comics instead of posting someone else's polls? Then you'd know how horrendous Marvel has become over the last few years. The X-events like Necrosha, Second Coming and Age of X are their sole saving grace.
