Both good, for sure. I'd have to throw Gary Frank in the mix, conjuring that Christopher Reeves vibe

Jim Lee is the best, I think his version is what Post-crisis Superman is. However, Ed McGuinness is my favorite

Gary Frank, definitely. I liked Curt Swan's classic rendition as well.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Quitely's?

Jim Lee, IMO

Personal favourite is Alex Ross. I do love the way Gary Frank does him to, mainly because he looks like Chris Reeve.

Overall Lee is my favourite artist and Gary Frank my second favourite but I'll be damned if those two can't draw flipping iconic pictures of Superman.

Maybe because it's a little "softer"?

I don't know about that, but I liked his rendition. Strong yet friendly was the impression I got from Quitely's Supes.

Don't know about the LoSH story. I thought that Secret Origin was a pretty good story that teeters a bit on the boring side. It's a very silver-age retelling of the Superman origin.

It's definitely between Jim Lee and Gary Frank, but there's other names worth mentioning...

  • Alex Ross
  • John Byrne
  • José Luis García-López
  • Ivan Reis
  • Doug Mahnke
