:) I'm on the fence with this one.
Who do you Ike more and why? Hal Jordan or Peter parker
I've tried countless times but I just can't connect to Hal on any major level. I need to relate to a character to like them beyond the surface.
So though I read Green Lantern, and don't read Spiderman, I'd still have to pick Peter. Those Spidey cartoons and Raimi movies really resonated with me as a kid.
@immortal777: lol good point
Peter.
@sog7dc: well I've read pretty much all of Johns' run lol. Not to mention I've been reading V-Ditti's run thus far. Believe me I'm up on my Green Lantern, just could never really like Hal. He's somewhat tolerable in the animated TV show, but that has since been cancelled.
I like the Green Lantern mythos, just not a Hal fan.
Easily Peter Parker. Hal is basically a god, but one can relate to Spider-man, regardless of how old you are. Spider-man will always have more heart than Hal could ever dream of having (and I'd like to argue that Spidey has just as much will too)
Comics
Aunt May: You know what life is, Peter? What it really is?
Spider-Man: A doughnut?
Aunt May: No.
Spider-Man: Because I’ve got a great joke about how life is a doughnut and the hole in the middle represents..
Aunt May: Life isn’t a doughnut, Peter. It is the inevitability of hard times, which we survive only because of the moments of joy in between. You are that joy. The moments we had with the Avengers were that joy. Now comes the inevitable. And we will deal with it, and get to the other side, where more moments of joy are waiting for us.
Spider-Man: In for a penny, in for a pounding, is that it?
Aunt May: Something like that.
Spider-Man: My doughnut joke would’ve been funnier.
Aunt May: I’m sure it would have, Peter.
- Amazing Spider-Man #536
Movies
Green Goblin: Wake up, little spider, wake up. No, you're not dead… yet, just paralyzed... temporarily. You're an amazing creature, Spider-Man. You and I are not so different.
Spider-Man: I'm not like you. You're a murderer.
Green Goblin: Well. To each his own. I chose my path, you chose the way of the hero. And they found you amusing for a while, the people of this city. But the one thing they love more then a hero...is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying. In spite of everything you've done for them, eventually, they will hate you. Why bother?
Spider-Man: Because, it's right.

@admiral_ironbeast: Hal Jordan is not a god lol
@admiral_ironbeast: Hal isn't a god heck he doesn't even have any powers take away the ring and Spider-man is closer to a god than Hal is.
Peter, he's less of a douche.
I feel this is a valid reason to pick Spider-man. I still don't like Spider-man though.
Peter Parker. Hands down. Hal Jordan has gone from one of the most bland personalities in comics (silver age) to one of the most polarizing. People either relate to him or hate him. Peter Parker on the other hand is arguably one of the greatest characters ever made. There are very few people who are unable to relate to Pete.
Didn't Hal and Supes move the Earth? If that isn't the power of a god then nothing is...
Maybe im confusing my lanterns, but I don't think so
@admiral_ironbeast: Like I said Hal doesn't have any powers you take away his ring and he's no different from any other man to call him a god is ridiculous.
@immortal777: @admiral_ironbeast: Besides power has nothing to do with who you like better. It is purely subjective.
Hal Jordan.
Very rich character history and at the centre of one of DC's best titles ever.
How many of us have wished to have a green lantern power ring capable of making constructs bounded only by our imagination. Though Hal is by no means the only one to posses this, he was the first.
His character history really is great. From being regarded as the best lantern, to the Parallax debacle, to leader of the GLC. A character that has experienced much tragedy in his life, and can never lead a normal life. A person who only feels himself when amongst the corps.
Sincerely a great guy, and he punched Batman.
Peter, he has gone through far worse hell than Jordan, has sacrificed more and is simply a better person. Speaking of, he deserves an Indigo Lantern Ring.
Peter Parker.
No matter what personal tragedy he's going through, even when he's literally reduced to living on the streets, he still gets up and does his job simply because it's the right thing to do. He doesn't have a mountain of money or high-end superpowers, but, even though it terrifies him, he'll battle opponents much stronger than him to the death to protect people he doesn't know. That's what makes him one of, if not the greatest hero ever.
