Iron Man isn't a killer. He's an ass, but he's not a killer. Ares should be on the list.

I can see that, but is Ares really a HERO. He is the god of war and kind of consider a villain even in Olympus

The other two aren't bloodthirsty like Ares. They'll kill, but not nearly as readily as Ares would.

They are all from places/time periods where killing criminals was a lot more permissable than it is now.

Venom is technically a hero now, the Thunderbolts are hunting down law-breakers. So put up Bullseye on the list too.

It was permissible, but that doesn't mean they're as likely to kill as Ares. Thor had his honor stuff and Hercules only killed when he went mad, then he'd hate himself for it. There's a page in Silent War that proves to me why Ares belongs somewhere near the top of this list (even if he doesn't make it to the top three), I'll try to find and scan it.

I just think that if portrayed within a proper context (mythologically) Thor and Herc would be just as likely as Wolverine to kill a criminal.

Them being willing to kill a criminal in a different context other than the one they are in, doesn't mean they are as willing to kill in general or as good at it as Ares is.

But is he a hero?"

Well seeing as he works for the good guys (Mighty Avengers and the gods of Olympus), fights against the bad guys, and is doing so to create a better life for his son (not because he's forced to like the Thunderbolts or anything), I consider him a hero. He's doing good for good reasons, he just doesn't have qualms about killing.

I never disputed that Ares place on the list, I'm just saying that Thor & Herc should be placed somewhere in the same vicinity as Wolverine on the list.

We're talking "lethal" superheroes?

Isn't that oxymoronic?

Anyway, using the criteria you all have come to, I'd say...

  1. Hulk

  2. Wolverine

  3. Punisher

I'm sticking with Midnighter for number 1. He's willing to kill (he's more than willing actually) and he's insanely good at it. Who else drops themselves into the middle of a war zone just so they can go kill everyone on both sides with nothing but a staff?

I thought we were comparing "lethal" superheroes, not their method or means with which they dispense their form of justice. I'd stack Castle's confirmed kills list up against the Midnighter's.

If you want the Norse equivelent to Ares, it's Tyr not Thor. I don't really know him from the comics, but the Viking god of war is probably a bad ass.

Wouldn't their methods be important? If one can take out armies with a stick and the other needs to be decked out in weaponry just to attempt the same thing, which is more lethal? It's like bullseye, he can kill you with piece of corn, so he's way more dangerous than other characters that would need real weapons to do the same. And of the two of them, Midnighter is much more lethal than Frank no matter how you want to judge that. If they have to fight each other, Midnighter wins. If they have to see how many other people they can kill in a set time, Midnighter wins. If it's who's considered more dangerous, Midnighter wins there too. When it comes to killing, anything Punisher can do, Midnighter can do, and then some.

I'd say Black Adam should be on that list...cause he was a member of the JSA for time so that must give him some hero cred...and then he went and killed a country :P

in marvel i like deadpool-punisher-blade, they have no qualms about killing you if your the target or even just in the way. and if you are the target and they catch you its not likely they would give you the jail term option.

If "lethal is lethal" then there's no way to rank them, and since the purpose was to rank them, saying they're all the same doesn't really do much. The criteria was, who is most likely to kill and is best at it. Midnighter beats Punisher in both those categories.
