Which is more iconic? Dr. Doom vs Magneto
Due to the popularity of the X-Men cartoons, the movies, and the comics in the 80's and 90's, I'd say Magneto by far.
Magneto would be, most non-comic book fans aren't even aware of Doctor Doom. While everyone else knows Magneto fairly well thanks to being in various media outlets.
As much Doctor Doom is popular in comics but in media he never get any spotlight. For example in cartoon/animation we don't have memorable/iconic Doctor Doom. In live action movie we also don't have iconic Doctor Doom. Meanwhile Magneto not just popular in comics but in live action movies and cartoons Magneto is awesome too
I'd put them both equal.
They are both the greatest vilians of the Marvel Universe. They have both had far ranging effects on the lore. Both of their enemies (The Fantastic Four and The X-Men) are defined by them, their greatest battles are some of the best comics in history.
Personally, I prefer Doom. He strikes me as a such a tragic character (deep down, he's just a momma's boy), his intellect and magic skill are unmatched, and any time he gets into an event, you know that shit is about to go down.
To the mainstream: Magneto is recognised as one of coolest and most badass villains in movie history and given much respect where as Dr Doom is a guy with a funny name.
magneto. he's the most recognizable of the two and the best portrayed of the two in a general sense. people normally see doom as a generic bad guy whereas magneto is a guy you almost want to root for. also, he's an icon in the gaming community thanks to MvC and the X-men arcade game
@cresshadow: So, you want to root for a guy who wants to wipe out humanity. the only reason Bastion, and the Purifiers exist because of magneto. He killed woman and children. In my eyes Magneto is no different that Red Skull.
@lamedoctor: in your eyes, sure but a lot of people see his point and history supports him. the creation of bastion and the purifiers have nothing to do with magneto
@cresshadow: I beg to differ.
Magneto is a monster.

Magneto is a monster.
correction. he's frankincense's monster. one that would not exist if he was not created. magneto did not kill that man, he was testing him and read his response wrong. wolverine tried(again) to kill him so he stripped him of the metal on his bones. the dude is literally and permanently scared by what happened to him that his actions are now knee jerk reactions. now dont get me wrong, he's definitely more villain than hero but he's pretty much a mutant version of punisher at this point
@cresshadow: Magneto is a monster. He has killed women and children.
@black_wreath: @legacy6364: @jmarshmallow: @cresshadow:
Media, and on television is Magneto.
Dr.Doom for Comics.

this only proves that he's more dangerous
@lamedoctor: Which ones more powerful =/= more iconic.
And even if it did, Doom is hardly more powerful than Magneto at his peak.
Jmarshmallow
@lamedoctor: Doesn't change my statement.
@legacy6364: @jmarshmallow: A WOODEN GUN..
your point?
@cresshadow: He got defeated by a wooden gun.
@lamedoctor: Please stop tagging me.
To me, Magneto. Not because of the movies, but because of the cartoons. I enjoyed the FF series as well, though.
Magneto has just had much better exposure in the Films and Cartoons. Fassbender and McKellen did tremendous Jobs with Erik. Doom on the other hand has not looked too good in the FF Films. Both are Iconic Characters obviously. I guess you could say MF DOOM has keep Victor relevant though in extra mediums.
