Mjolnir, the GL rings have very set limitations and weaknesses, but Mjolnir seems to come up with a new ability every week.

You would think with imagination anything would be possible.

@mtrakos: Not neccessarily.

A GL Ring is GREATLY limited by willpower.

Oliver Queen lost a week's worth of sleep simply creating a small arrow that only annoyed Sinestro.

Queen talked to Rayner, and Rayner said the feeling is not only natural, but gets exponentially worse the more complex constructs you create.

@mtrakos: Not really, it's been shown before that even if you have a great amount of willpower and imagination, you can't do things that are beyond the ring's abilities, such as when John Stewart tried and failed to recreate a solar system, plus, you have to get over the yellow impurity, plus have to worry about it running out of power.

Not to mention it takes a physical toll on your body.

You never really explained how mjolnir is a bigger plot device weapon than a gl ring.

The GL ring should be more powerful but everyone sucks at using it.

One of them being the fact that none of the Green Lanterns have any imaginations whatsoever. Now if I had the ring...

Pretty sure it was merely the planet Xanshi that Stewart tried to recreate, not an entire solar system.

This is a bit like asking which is the bigger plot device character between Thor or Green Lantern. Neither, in the sense that they are both fictional characters. Do plots often progress because of aspects of the characters previously unknown? Sure. Does this happen in unrealistic ways? As far as say known physical laws? Sure. Characters like weapons are fairly consistent or as much consistent as inconsistent and what parameters are we measuring as far as consistency? So as far as measuring up against the plot, as in which weapon is less consistent because of the plot then well I would guess the Green Lantern ring. Mainly because Green Lanterns the characters would aim for effectiveness and efficiency where as writers/artists aim for what best looks cool on the page. This creates inconsistency between weapon and plot.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding the question correctly. Your asking which weapons drives more plots? If yes, then I think it's clearly GL ring. I mean the GL ring has grown into becoming a corner stone of the DCU. I mean unlike Mjolnir which is exclusive to Thor, GL Rings are used by an entire corp of space police that patrol the galaxy. Plus there are at least five characters created using the GL ring plot device, and several comic books as well. Not only that, but the GL ring has produced offshoot rings, for yellow, red, black, and blue lanterns. So to me the GL ring clearly trumps Mjolnir when it comes to creating new plots.

@Pyrogram: this issue kind of explained how much focus and willpower one needs to use a ring , its not just slap it on and know one can do whatever one wishes . ollie focused his willpower and this was the only construct he can muster against sinestro (which stunned him but didn't stop him) he said the experience was like running for three days (something like that) then asked kyle is that what its like for him to which kyle responded "every time"
