NOT going to be a political debate thread. If it becomes one I'll make sure it gets locked. Which heroes would be for civilian gun rights (ie, Auto/Semi Auto) which would be against? I'd say Punisher is pretty pro gun. Green Arrow is against.
I had no Idea Batman had the strength to break a Gun. I know he could lift 1000 pounds, but never knew that was enough streangth to bend and break a gun.
He doesn't seem to mind Alfred using them. He doesn't use guns and neither do his apprentices, but I don't think he's anti gun ownership for people in general. Since, you know, he just lets his butler run around with a double barrel shotgun.

DKR is non-canon, and was written before the panel you used. So... so that's two ways this post doesn't really matter.
How about green arrow? he's been portrayed as "an old leftie" and the left generally supports stricter gun control policy. Plus he shoots people with "impact arrows"

Well the DKR is non-canon, and was written after Frank Miller was outed as an @ss. So... so that's two ways this post doesn't really matter. :p

Sure it does. 1. It's non-canon so his speech doesn't matter because as we know non-canon doesn't matter. 2. Where Fank Miller is generally being considered an @ss people are not going to consider the point of view of anything he writes.
Sooo discounting his post for those reasons doesn't matter because Bruce's speech doesn't matter anyway. :p

Even if you chose to discount the images posted above, it's pretty clear to me that Batman is against guns. I mean he's against killing in general even in the most extreme circumstances. Also he doesn't use them and he encourages his protege's not to use them which says alot to me.

Iron Man's built War Machine with built in Guns and Missiles. He also builds weapons like guns for S.H.I.E.L.D. His rays are also much more powerful then a gun.
@Dernman: Yes, but Iron man doesn't mass produce his weapons. He is very reserved when it comes to who he allows use his weapons. Rhodey is the exception, not the rule. He's not against using weapons himself (i.e. Iron Man armor), he just doesn't believe anyone else is responsible enough to use his weapons. And I'm pretty sure he'd be against sharing weapons with the mass populace. And when did he produce guns for SHIELD?
Until recently he was always one of SHIELDS main suppliers of weaponry of all kinds. it wasn't just SHIELD but the US government who he had big contracts with. Him no longer pursing defense contracts is the reason Detroit Steel and the Hammers came back into picture.

I'm inclined to say that that DKR panel is out of context. He's speaking specifically to people claiming to be his followers. He goes on to say that they are loud and clumsy, which I think is more important in his distaste for them. They are unsuited to his form of crime fighting.
@Dernman: Regardless of whatever Frank Miller's political opinions might be, it doesn't change that The Dark Knight Returns is one of the most celebrated and influential comics of all. time. Just because you don't like the writer as a person anymore doesn't change the content or quality of the work.
Are characters really anti or pro gun? I don't think they really hold strong political opinions either way. There are characters that use guns and characters that don't.Maybe some are strongly anti/pro gun but I feel that most don't really take a strong stance even if they use them or not.
And Alfred does own a gun. And Batman is trained to use firearms but I don't know if he actually owns one or not, that would be an interesting bit of irony. He probably needs to know about them so he can take them apart when disarming opponents and about the caliber of bullets etc to help with his detective work.
actually most gun users could be anti gun, I mean, they are already not following the law by being vigilantes and killing people, so the less people with guns the better. and if they use guns, they got them illegally, so they might be criminals, so it's easier to identify them.
He doesn't seem to mind Alfred using them. He doesn't use guns and neither do his apprentices, but I don't think he's anti gun ownership for people in general. Since, you know, he just lets his butler run around with a double barrel shotgun.

I only used the picture as an example. Batman seems to be anti-guns generally, and this was the first panel that came to mind.
That's an interesting. I have never read the comic, but based on the recent movie (assuming the movie accurately reflected the comic) I think gun legislation debate in that particular future might be a very different then it is now for a number of reasons.
how advanced guns were. I mean did you see that gun he was carrying. a gun like his should be banned
the ratio of police per citizen in really low. Basically in that future there isn't enough judges/police to adequately protect all citizens so your pretty much on your own during an emergency and if you're lucky the police might respond.
Dredd was such a straight ruler that I can't tell what his position would be. His position would be based on what's in the books. I don't think he'd have an opinion of his own.
He doesn't seem to mind Alfred using them. He doesn't use guns and neither do his apprentices, but I don't think he's anti gun ownership for people in general. Since, you know, he just lets his butler run around with a double barrel shotgun.
