The title says it all really. Sorry if this has been done, I searched it and nothing came up.
Which country has the best TV programmes
extremely subjective question is extremely subjective.
All of them and none of them.
?
To me (just my opinion), Japan has anime, which is awesome. Korea has amazing dramas, and America has superheroes (cartoons, tv shows). I've been watching some things from England as well, so those are the four countries that I watch. That doesn't mean that they are necessarily the best, though.
@johnfrank120: let's put it this way. if you are nationalistic, why pick tv programs outside your country ? if you are not nationalistic, why pick tv programs inside your country. relevant content per program is subjective per person and different countries have so different standards and cultural points that it is impossible to match them up to everyone else. do you match american tv standards to asian tv standards, some of which are even more "open" than american tv standards ?

People still watch Anime?... Will that ever die?...........

America is the most diverse since our country is all about movies and television, but honestly I'm not that well versed to other countries to really say that I'd find them better or worse. Sure there are shows I've seen and shows I enjoy that were once English shows or shows I want to get around to seeing. (Misfits, Doctor Who, Shameless, Robin Hood, Merlin, Sherlock, Luther) I enjoyed the Aussie shows Farscape and Chaser's War on Everything.
In fact this sounds like a good place to ask other people from different countries what they'd recommend from their countries. Be nice to be aware of some good shows/movies/ect I never would have thought to look for before.

unless you plan to watch shows in their native language and not in their translated format, which i would say is very rare outside the basic english language medium and any company that decides to translate said stuff.

I'm fine with subtitles. I do like to multi-task so subs make it hard but if it's good I'll read it. Unless you mean no one has bothered to translate subs it in which case I guess I'm out of luck or better start learning a lot of different languages :P

Well, to give you an example, did you know that Netflix has translated several Korean Dramas? My Girlfriend is a Gumiho is quite good. Not to mention there is a legal website called DramaFever that has hundreds of Korean Dramas available translated in free streaming. So, although not all (obviously) are translated into English, you can still find some shows from other countries that you never would've guessed would be translated. ^^

As was I. I was trying to go for tongue in cheek (I think that was obvious, right?)
