Where's the new superheroes?

Can anyone name a well known superhero that was created within the last five years? And heroes like female Thor, Miss Marvel, and new Captain America don't count, since they aren't really new heroes. I'm talking 100% completely new superhero. DC and Marvel are really more interested in publishing stories about the same heroes, rather than investing in new characters. If things don't change, I expect the superhero genre to grow stagnant and stale.

In the early 90s, they did a slew of new characters in tons of books. How many of them does anyone remember?

That's the comic book buyers fault, DC had some pretty good stories and very well received stories revolving around new or lesser used characters at the start of the new 52 as people where shouting out for variety and all these titles sold poorly so now we have about 5-10 Batman titles a month because that's what people buy.

Marvel never even tried, they just stick everyone in the Avengers who they still have full creative control over.

Silk? I guess she would fall under the Spider-Man umbrella, though. There have been a bunch of new Inhuman characters that are featured in that title but that's kind of like introducing new mutants, they're usually automatically affiliated with the X-Men.

It is a massive risk to just give a new hero a book; most of the time that strategy failed miserably. The best way to introduce a new character is to put them on a popular team book or as a supporting character in an already established hero's book. Then, if the character is popular enough, they'll get their own book.

Ms. Marvel should count because other than their gender and the moniker, there are really no similarities between Carol and Kamala

Dr. Simon amal aka crux...he was a villain first but he got better. Was gonna be on the outlaws but yeah the general 'fanbase' didn't see his potential so yeah he never made it as a member.
