Its been nearly 4 years since the new-52 has begun and since DC has gotten rid of the weird outside-underwear on Superman, Batman, and various other characters. However day after day I still see the underwear on commercials, food brands, and even cosplay in mainstream media and the general public. So I was wondering when do you guys think it'll be the time when the general public finally realizes that Superman doesn't wear his underwear on the outside anymore? And even Batman for that matter?
When will Superman's trunks vanish from general public
@petey_is_spidey: The reason I think the trunks might return is because they are just so ingrained into the character. I initially thought that the underwear is stupid, but then I found out the reason for the trunks and thought he should keep that aspect of the past. Bascically the origin of the "underwear" is that Siegel and Schuster were inspired by strong men in circuses and felt that was the ideal template for their superhero. I think that the trunks though silly give the character history.
@darkdetective27: Meh, so much has changed about Superman over the last 75+ years that I think we can lose the trunks at this point.
@rdclip: Yeah they will probably fade away like the blue Batsuit. I guess its not like anybody is going to miss them.
There are quite a few Heroes that need a makeover. Superman being number one. No point in having capes (except Batman). I wish Spider-Man would just go back to black and keep it that way.
@metalhead2174: Whats wrong with capes other than impracticality?
I hope not.

They serve no real purpose and are a hindrance. Then again, they are comics.
@petey_is_spidey: Yeah they are just there to look cool which they do.
They're not real superheroes unless they got underwear over their pants.
