Oh man, can't I just have both? Either would just make the world terrific. If I had to choose probably the lantern ring though. Because as others have said, scarabs can come with mind control.
I'd prefer a Scarab, assuming it didn't take control of me.
I can handle the AI and no one can remove it from me, like they could a GL Ring.
Furthermore, a Scarab seems much easier to use. Also, couldn't a Scarab hypothetically improve me physically? I know it can genetically modify it's host, due to the fact it offered to give Jaime extra fingers and whatnot. I have pretty slow reflexes, practically no stamina. low muscle tone etc, so if it can make me physically superior while I wear it, that would be awesome.
you know i always have this debate with a friend of mine after young justice. he figures all of the reach scarabs are like jaimes and i'm like no jaime got lucky with his scarab being taken before it was ready to activate and its kill the planet program being separate from the already premature scarab and saying things like all it takes is a strong mind to control them when green beetle was presented before we found out he was mind wiped. it came down to a.i. that i have to constantly argue with and occasionally it says f*** it and takes control of my body and only has various flavors of energy blasting vs a ring that i can do anything i can imagine including energy blasting, turning me invisible, shape shifting and the only limitation is it has to be recharged that only takes a few seconds and i can carry my battery around in a pocket dimension stored in my ring?
long story short i'd take a power ring, preferably indigo but i'm good with green too
If I could guarantee that the scarab wouldn't mind control me, scarab easily.
GL ring comes with responsibilities. You have to do what the Guardians tell you. You have to patrol some random sector of space until you die. Chances are you're going to fight stupid amounts of freaky evil all alone with little hope of backup. Then you die and your ring goes to someone else and you're completely forgotten.
A scarab, meanwhile, doesn't require you to answer to any higher authority, doesn't require you to announce a silly oath, and gives you a buddy (possibly homicidal buddy) to talk to so you're never lonely!
