What was a better flim Watchmen or The Avengers
The Avengers are a better team so I have to go with that but there was pretty much nothing wrong with Watchmen, it was a good movie.
I think I was a little too familiar with the Watchmen source material to actually enjoy the film. Every single arbitrary change to the narrative just really got under my skin. Ultimately, I ended up disliking the film a great deal.
For some reason, the sweeping changes made to the Avengers didn't chafe as much. I think that, had Snyder not made such a huge deal about remaining so faithful to the Watchmen title, I could have forgiven his flourishes. The Avengers clearly played fast and loose with their character's personalities and origins, but I had already been conditioned to accept those takes, on the classic characters, by the series of films that came before it. This is not to say that I didn't have problems with some of those characterizations, but I was in no way as disappointed with the Avengers as I was with Watchmen.
And it worked out pretty well. The watchmen movie was bad. Alan Moore wrote the book specifically for the comic book medium. The pacing of the book was too slow for movies.
Ya''ll are confuzzing the difference between a film and a movie. Watchmen is a better film, but is not a better movie. Now if we compare them in a mor general sense Avengers is better. My tiffs with Watchmen are the choreographed fight scenes, Snydervision aka slow motion 24/7 and the pacing. It does have decent characterization, plot and visuals though.
coming from a guy who loved every marvel movie(except Blade 3 and the 80's Punisher), and hates everything about the Watchmen franchise. Avengers was a piece of crap to me, all I cared about was the fight scenes. it was meant to be an eye-candy sequel to the previous Avengers members movies. non-comic book fans were falling asleep during the first 40 minutes when I was in the theater. Frankly, I wouldn't watch it again, unless I am with a group of friends who want to see it, but I won't pay a single penny.
While I liked Watchmen(love the comics!) Avengers to me was a better movie. It's really impressive how they brought all of these characters together and made one of the best comic movies of all time. This was my beef with the Batman movies by Nolan. They are great movies with a comic book character in them while Avengers is a great comic movie. Don't even get me started on TDKR! I say this as a true Batman fan. I was extremely disappointed. But back to Watchmen, it was a visually cool film and I liked that they were trying to really stick to the comics but I felt like there was a lot left out. Basically the story was to big for one movie. I wish they could've incorporated the Black Freightor as part of the theatre experience.
While these really can't be compared, Watchmen was absolutely flawless in every single way. The Avengers was good but it wasn't great.
I don't think I can even answer this. To me they're so entirely different in style and atmosphere, I can't compare them. As someone on the morbid side, I'll say I did enjoy the more grimy scenes of the Watchmen. But damn, the way these Avengers movies tied together, that it could be pulled off, that blows me away, and the humor was just my type. But still, each has something the other doesn't so I can't decide.

I agree. Watchmen was epic!
This should be unanimous. Avengers had better special effects, acting, characters, script and I don't remember Watchmen becoming the third highest grossing film of all time.
You can't really compare the two, each had a different message. Avengers message was, get your popcorn read, and Watchmen was don't trust those in power because it eventually corrupt you.
i personally could not sit through the long story of the watchmen again but would watch the Avengers in a hear beat again. So it is the avengers for me.
